why not? this is very very good return for Boston.

EDM actually losses this deal badly.

I was not aware Zboril was done for the year, I think that Swayman could be a stud of a goaltender, thus the large load from Edmonton. I think this is good trade from both sides.

Teams don’t usually trade goalies that start their career with a 1.92 GAA and a .930 SV%

you're getting a top pairing dman and top 6 winger in return. that's when a trade like that would happen.

Top six is full for wingers.
Remind me who the top pair d man is? Surely you aren’t referring to Bouchard.

They traded they're other young goalie Dan Vladar because the decided that Swayman was the future. They're not suddenly going to change course and trade him.

yes, Evan Bouchard, who is currently on pace for 49 points at 22 years old. Probably EDMs best all around d this season. Easily a top paring d in the future.

Kinda seems foolish to suggest Edmonton would move JP or Bouch… I seriously think that would cause a legit riot within Edmonton.

lol okay. So a guy with 54 career games at an average of 18:31 is a number one now? But you’re not applying the same logic to a young goalie with fantastic numbers. Okay, got it.

Okay maybe this season he's top 3 d. But he will be top pair in 2 years time. His analytics are amazing and he looks like EDMs best d if you watch them.

Goalies are way more inconsistent, hard to tell for sure that swayman is legit. Look at Matt Murray for example, wins two cups at young age then hes on waivers at 26 years old.

For the record, I do think Swayman is a stud but considering you guys have Ullmark locked up and have Rask coming back, picking up Bouchard and Puljarvi would be a no brainer imo.

Having Bouchard and macavoy for the next decade wouldn't hurt.

You can’t think of any instances of a young d man looking pretty good early on and not really taking the next step? Bouchard is a nice prospect. I would be a little more gung ho on him if he was a couple years younger with this kind of experience.

If the bruins were hurting for wingers, this might make sense. But it doesn’t. Move ullmark.

Bouchard was slow played for at least a year. He sat on the NHL Roster the Coach wouldn’t play him because he wanted to play ethan bear. That’s one of the reasons Bear was traded. Bouchard is damn good and he doesn’t even really play on the pp yet which he is elite at.

Elite? He’s elite at that? Then why isn’t he playing PP? Elite PP guys play on the PP because they’re elite on the PP.

They pretty much have Tyson Barrie just to run the PP. Bouchard would get 60-70 points a year if he was on PP. They will sign him to a long term extension before they let him get those kind of totals or they would never afford him.

You understand how preposterous it is to say taht someone is elite on the PP but can’t get on the PP right? There aren’t many elite players in this league.

I know what I said it will be clear in 2 years. The coach does things his own way and doesn’t listen to any conventional wisdom.

If he was truly elite wouldn’t he and Barrie both play on the PP?

Barrie is a powerplay specialist, makes sense they would use him over Bouchard for now.

Like Zmach said once Bouchard is more experienced he will no doubt be running the powerplay with Mcdavid and Drai.

And moving ullmark will probably be a cap dump so good luck with that. Wont be getting a Bouchard / Puljujärvi return for him.

Ya but why isn’t a guy that’s elite on the PP one of them?
