More Done Deals Tomorrow
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MGK</b></div><div>You think Mangiapane is worth as much as Hanifin?</div></div>
I actually think if I was a team looking to make a deep playoff run, I would rather have Mangiapane over Hanifin. Hanifin is good and is a serviceable #3 on a team, but doesn't have a lot of grit and hasn't had a ton clutch moments. Mangiapane has playoffs written all over him and can play up and down the lineup, goes to the net hard, which becomes more important in the playoffs, a bit of grit despite his size, a bit of a pest. just my thoughts.

Calgary doesn't need to dump Backlund, still a good contract and they have room to manage it.

being cap friendly
If Edmonton could move Foegele with out taking back a contract or having to add a sweetener it would be done. lots of teams with similar players up against the cap looking move on and all in the same boat.

Possible Trades to help Oilers
Why would Seattle want Keith? It will likely be more for Gio at the trade deadline without salary retention and taking back a bad contract.
The Arizona deal is ok, I am not to sure that Arizona will want to take back Kassian and can likely do a similar trade else where without that piece coming back
Montreal would not need to add the draft pick and Tuch and Edmonton may need to send an additional draft pick.

ive seen these moves around
Ya, don't see Husso moving from the blues, would need to be 2 1st round picks. Will be cheaper in the offseason as the Blues would have time to sort out the backup position at that point, as they wont go into the playoffs without a backup goalie they trust.
Manson, same as above, as long as Anaheim is in the hunt cant see them selling for cheap.
Seattle might take that trade, the pick might need to be a 2nd.

I am just not sure if Kapanen fits the Sutter mold, I haven't seen enough of him but from what I read his two way game and intensity is not his strong suit.

I think the Monahan has more upside but the flames need to get rid of a little bit of doe for next year, and the cap space has some value.

I don't think Flames would retain, as that would be one of the appeals to getting Zucker it allows the flames a bit more cap flexibility, I think Monahan has the better chance to rebound to old form.

What would your thoughts be on a Jason Zucker for Monahan trade, neither has great numbers and both could use a fresh start.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Marshallchapman9</b></div><div>Habs pass. Decent value but Montreal wants picks and prospects - not Valimaki and Pitlick</div></div>
I think Valimaki would still be considered a decent prospect, Pitlick has zero value only for cap space move, I could see the flames not trading their first but adding another prospect instead of the second maybe Pelletier, and Montreal sending a 3rd or 4th round pick back.

If I am Edmonton I would not want Grubauer, he has not been very good this year and for another 6 years is brutal. I think Nurse has more trade value then you are giving him credit for and I wonder if a Chicago trade for Fleury makes more sense.

How good was Calgary at this draft, picking Fox, Tkachuk and Dube. It is to bad that Fox didn't want to sign.

I was not aware Zboril was done for the year, I think that Swayman could be a stud of a goaltender, thus the large load from Edmonton. I think this is good trade from both sides.

Winnipeg Sports Talk discussion
I think it maybe time to move on from Maurice, but I think has to be for a Bruce Boudreau type coach or maybe a John Tortorella ( could imagine that reunion with PLD) the point is it needs to be a veteran coach that can push them over the top. I like at this team and I see a 3 year window, were they should consider them self not only a playoff of team but a contender. I think a new coach might be required for this.
As for trades I really think they need to re-configure that bottom 6, Adam Lowry for me is the only one I would look to keep, assuming wheeler is in your top 6, need to add a bit of a different image to create a different identity.

Skinner is sure out of his league with the rest of the players on that list. I guess the same can be maybe said about Subban and Bobrovsky but I also feel like at one point they earned that contract.

Ya, I am not to sure if Arizona can retain salary, but would be a reduction next year for them as Ryan would be a free agent.

If you are the Flames are you not looking at the next two to three years as your window? I do believe Larson is currently better the Hanifin and I am not sure Hanifin ever hits that level.

I think the big reason he said Vancouver in particular was due to the Swedish connection with Markstrom. I wonder if he would be willing to re-look at the teams he would be willing to go now that the flames have added a few more Swedes.
