But if your good at both that’s even better

What league do you watch? Offense is basically all that matters even for defensemen. Just look at the big deals for dmen or a list of Norris winners, they are all offensive guys. If you arent putting up the points, you arent getting the spotlight.

Zero reason for the Jets to give away a good defenseman for nothing at this point. Maybe they need to move someone in the off season for cap space, but not now.

And not DeMelo… it’ll most likely be Schmidt

I'd do it but would prefer a 2022 3rd and would try to get an extra later pick like a 5th or 6th, try to gain one back after throwing some away the last few years on the likes of Eakin and Benn(who weren't even needed).

Probably not. Schmidt is pretty good. Unless they replace him with someone better, which is unlikely, I think he'll stay.

3M is fine for a defensively sound Dman...a righty at that. you then pay an extra 6M for the offence(Makar) if you want a guy for both ends. I would rather a 3M defensive Dman and 6M to have depth....esp if you bet high on a Nurse or Seth Jones and it fails

The thing about that is that I'm saying DeMelo isn't a good defenceman. (I know +/- isn't exactly a reliable stat, but) he's a +3 this season. For a guy that doesn't produce offensively, you'd hope he's helping defensively, but with only a +3, it doesn't seem like he is. I would say the same thing about Morrissey, (bad offensively and meh defensively) but I don't see him being moved. It's not a move we need to make, but it's nice to have cap space.

I know DeMelo has a reputation as a good defensive guy, but I just don't see it when I watch, which is why I think 3M is too much. It's not that I think he's a bad player, I just don't think he's worth that much.
