Final Chycrun offer 3 options

Created by: xercuses
Team: 2021-22 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 10, 2022
Published: Jan. 10, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I could see three options for the blues
Scotty P is the end prospect Neighbors/ Bolduc are the other one
While Loof and Robertson are the lower end one
And a First
Make a package from the three lines
Or we could just straight go quantity
Trades
1.
STL
    Chycrun
    ARI
One of Scotty P, Robertson, and Hofer
      Or
One of Loof, Neighbors/Bolduc, and Hofer
What’s the better deal for AZ
      2.
      3.
      STL
        Chycrun
        ARI
Scandella, Loof, Neighbors, Hofer, 2023 1st
          4.
          STL
            Chycrun
            ARI
Or Lastly we could go Just straight Quantity which I don’t see AZ doing tbh but maybe they like a higher number of prospects
              Scandella
              Robertson
              Loof
              Kostin
              Joshua
              Dickinson
              2023 First
              2024 second

In my honest opinion, there is no point in having Scotty P if he’ll be blocked off and set aside to the 3rd pairing for the next 3 years. Mikkola would be a cheaper option in my opinion for that role. I think Scotty P goes and between Bolduc and Neighbours, we should keep Neighbours. If we aren’t acquiring at TDL, we acquire on Draft Day sending Scotty P, 2022 1st, and Bolduc. That’s basically what the Yotes are asking for and when the Yotes exist their rebuild let’s say in 5-7 years, Scotty P, Bolduc, and potential the 1st round pick will all be in their primes.

              IMHO if I were Arizona:

              1st 2022
              Perunovich
              Neighbours
              Scandella
              for
              Chychrun

we dont have a second rounder this year so it cant be our first this year
and imo only one of Pernovich or neighbours they are our two best prospects so only one of them go's imo

I think those are the interesting pieces to get them on the dance floor. It's a nice haul for Arizona, and Bill Armstrong was a big enough believer in Perunovich to draft him in the 2nd as a double-overager. I don't know what the perception around the league is wrt Neighbours but he has made some big strides and is looking like a full-time NHLer next season, even if his ceiling still puts him in the middle/bottom six (or as a complementary winger). It could still be easily beaten by other teams, but your package is probably the best the Blues can put out there if they are serious about Chych.

By that lineup, you are so close to the cap for next year. Is it really worth it for the 1.4m difference between Scanella and Chychrum to give up those young assets?

Yes Chycrun is on a completely diffrent level from Scandella

In my humble opinion, yes. Chychrun would be the no.1 d-man on the Blues and it would solidify the top4 which is probably the only thing holding this team back from seriously contending in the next 2 seasons. Worth it to make the upgrade given the way the rest of the team is built.

True, but is he worth it for Blue?. Now maybe you can't sign Parakyo with the cap difference? It's like when I see Chychrun for the Leafs. Yea nice to have been really puts a hit in the cap and if you trade future cheap ELCs is it worth it?

Parakyo is already signed and by the time any meaningful elcs or contracts are up VT and ROR are up too I can see both signing a longer term deal with less cap hit

This looks about right to me in terms of what the Blues would give up, though I hold out hope they could include a young roster forward (e.g. Kostin) rather than Neighbours or Bolduc. With that said, if that's the only sticking point I think the deal gets done; Blues are 100% win now and Chychrun would be a massive blue line upgrade.

              *Right, 2023 1st then.

Based on what we've seen with other dman trades, Im not sure how you could think anything less will get it done?

-Seth Jones got.... well you know what it is, Im not gonna write it out. wink
-Ristolainen nabbed a 14OV, 2nd rounder and Hagg.
-Trouba got Pionk and a 21OV.
              etc

Chyrchun is younger, cheaper, arguably better than some/all of those guys and signed for another.......3 YEARS after this season.

Honestly it has less to do with STL making a good offer and more to do with what so many teams could offer better. LAK got tons of options that I would take over STL's options for example and they are rumored to be interested also.

Regardless of whether Chychrun is worth it or not, I highly doubt any fan base will be happy with the cost to acquire him. It is slightly inflated IMHO. Whoever gets Chychrun is not going to come away from the trade thinking they got a steal. I'll guarantee it. Its gonna hurt.

I agree with all of that I just don’t want sell our whole future for somebody we may already have in Scotty P

If you think Scotty P will be what Chyrchun is, he shouldn't even be named in a trade to begin with. The only reason he is, is because you are not sure he will be. That's the trade off. Arizona needs to have the belief that one of those pieces will be a big name or else what's the point from their perspective, right?
