Ottawa probably takes the trade but I still think a different prospect would be needed instead of Lavoie.

Agreed. Lavoie is a bust

I’d do the Price trade but would prefer Broberg over Bourgault. I don’t see XB being anything more than a 3rd liner. Broberg I think has top 4 potential.

Not a smart move for Ottawa. We have better players in Belleville than Lavoie and will have even FEWER veterans on the team next season. Connor Brown's roll will be too important and we can move him at the end of next year if he isn't extending - his value might even be greater as a rental (IF we go that route).

I was lobbying for Savoie instead but Oilers fans may think that’s too much. But honestly I’d even take Tullio instead and he was a 5th the year after Lavoie went in the 2nd lol.

OTT will be wanting to compete next year. OTT wont want to be selling at next years deadline and players with 1 extra year of term are more likely to get good returns at the deadline.

Now is the right time to move on from CBrown, and use that cap space to sign Giroux in the offseason.

I saw Lavoie in Halifax nearly a dozen times. I get a lot wrong in terms of prospect projections lol, but I was bang on on Lavoie. He was a 4th-5th rounder for me in his draft year. As in, “I’ll take a flyer on him with this late round pick, long shot, see what happens”. He’s skilled and talented and that got him through juniors but his game and his hockey iq do not translate to the nhl.

Please OP, give us options other than Lavoie for the prospect.

Yeah but the owner will still be Melnyk and the GM Dorion, no?

Moving on from Connor Brown, hoping that they would replace him by an even better player is not realistic. Have you seen the last 2 off-seasons??? An horror movie!

And Connor Brown is actually crucial defensively. Have you seen how much he was missed against Edmonton. He's a top NHL matchup forward

Because Dorion and Melnyk have done poorly before doesnt mean we should be voting for them to make mistakes now.

CBrown is great yeah, but he wont be a top matchup forward during the time at which OTT will be competing. In 2-3 years CBrown will be essentially aged out of usefullness and OTT will be smack dab in their competitive window

Brown turned 28 y/o 3 days ago, I think he'll still be pretty good in 2-3 years. He's a pretty good skater and is pretty smart with flawless work ethic. The thing is you can't always part with veterans when they get over 27 y/o. If you do, you end up rebuilding forever...
