Peeke

Created by: MatthewsFan
Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 19, 2022
Published: Jan. 19, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just wondering IF he could be available. With Bean playing RD and Boqvist, plus you have Ceulemans and the possibility of getting a RD (Nemec, Jiricek) at the 2022 draft.

Would something like this be fair?
Leafs get a cost controlled young RD who plays just about all his mins in the defensive zone, his 89 hits and 65 blocked shots would lead all Leaf defenders.

CLB gets a young, scoring LW, that would fit in there timeline of contending.

The value is probably not far off for Peeke, but CBJ need young RDs, and Peeke fits the bill. His play has improved as the season has gone on, and he's looking to have a bright future as a Mid-Pair D.

Why would the leafs trade one of their best prospects for a near 24 year old defender who cant defend or score very well?

This is the classic capfriendly, every RHD is a top 4 guy in TO regardless of whether not said defenceman is good.

Right now, I can't see CBJ trading a young dependable NHLer for prospect.
Leafs have three who play the right side.....Brodie, Holl and Liljegren and Dermot who plays both sides.
I don't know if I want a Dman who "plays just about most of his minutes in the defensive zone"

I don't think his numbers are that bad. Seems to have improved on a poor team. But do the Leafs really need him? As you suggest is better than any of the Leafs seven Dmen?

His underlying numbers are bad across the board. Don't see how that gets better on a better and deeper team.

They arnt chariot bad or anything, he's just not putting up anything special. He's not worth much at all in a trade and certainly nothing close to as valuable as robertson. If Columbus wants a 3rd for him or something sure.

With Amirov + Knies + Steeves and the unpredictability of Roberston being able to stay healthy, I would be ok moving him. And yes, for Peeke.
