I was just looking into this and I'm really not sure Colorado needs him or Halak. I think they may need some depth D with Byram's status so up in the air.

He's not top 15 in scoring this year, he currently sits at 22nd in scoring. And besides Sakic has said that Newhook isn't available.

And the Avs need more scoring...why? They are on track to be the first 350+ goal team since the 96 Penguins. Even if the value was good, the Avs need a 2nd pairing D and a penalty killing forward.

Newhook is basically unavailable. He's the cheap 2nd line center the Avs will need for a few years while in between MacKinnon new contract and the cap starting to increase again.
