Some Tough Decisions Next Season

Created by: Agent_Of_R9
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 22, 2022
Published: Jan. 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don't want anyone to get mad at these trades or perceive that I'm trolling, I know that some of them are very unattainable. I just want to show what the team is going to need to do if they want to extend Campbell to the maximum AAV, they are going to need to get guys on ELCs or near league minimum in order to fit under the cap.

Hawks decline. Ritche is a cap dump and strome is not

Imagine how weak and bad the Rangers would look if they flipped the 2020 1OA player for the unsigned 57OA player a year later. Not a good proposal

Fair enough. I feel Ritchie would do well in CHI and fits the mold of players they're looking for considering they acquired Lafferty.

In hindsight I think Lafreniere shouldn't have gone in the first round. He just doesn't have enough skill or skating, he's more of a power forward. He put up most of his points in junior by winning puck battles and crashing the net so in the NHL he was going to have to play a very specific role.

Man, I can’t believe people waste time to post this crap over and over again. 1. Shows how small minded you are. 2. Does it actually find you some happiness to troll ? Seems kind of sad to me.

Not to mention that cap hit doesn't meet Strome's qualifying offer

Just because you don't agree with me doesn't mean I'm a troll. It doesn't have to be Lafreniere for this scenario, any underperforming recent draft pick capable of turning it around.

In this scenario Strome won't get qualified and go to UFA in which he signs this.

Tbh he has struggled quite a bit these 2 seasons (I know recently he's been better) but I don't see how he has leverage to get more than that.

No team is just going to give up a player like Laf/Kakko/Stutzle/etc because they aren’t scoring 80 points. It’s a hot take that anyone could acquire these guys for that package. This isn’t a matter of agree or disagree, it’s a matter of fact. If any team could just acquire Laf by sending a 2nd/3rd rounder who can’t even cut their NHL roster, do t you think 31 teams would have done this?!?! 😂. Fact-Knies is in the AHL and can’t cut the Leafs roster or he would be there. Fact- Laf has been in the N since day 1 and would be top 6 if Kreids and bread weren’t in the way. When you see NYR fans actively trying to trade him for other prospects then you will have some arguments. But right now, every NYR isn’t complaining because he is on pace and getting better and stronger. Playing 3rd line mins and no PP will never get a player 80 points 🤦🏻‍♂️. Worry about the mess that is the Leafs rather than our product

Tbh Kakko and Stutzle are playing strong defensively and able to make nifty plays with the puck on their stick, I’m not sure you can say the same about Lafreniere. A lot of Leaf fans told me they wouldn’t trade Knies for Lafreniere straight up tbh.

Sounds like a typical leaf fan 🤣🤣. Those fans are completely stupid and clearly have blinders on. They should be embarrassed to admit that

Yeah tbh most fans are pretty biased, I would do it but it seems Laf is not playing good again tonight.

Still untouchable.. they aren’t moving him unless it’s for a top tier player

You would have to add if you want an established player. I just think he’s not a fit with NYR, he doesn’t have enough skills to play a role outside of power forward. So I think they should trade him sooner than later.

There are plenty of teams who would give him more around $3M possibly more.
