Very wishful thinking that you can dump Kassian on anyone for just a 7th. And with getting a 2nd for Ceci

Montreal reject.

Barrie is awful and has negative value.

Gallagher is worth more than a 1st (To Montreal) and Romanov is simply untouchable.

Yeah that package won’t get you Romanov! We will throw you have Gallagher and Chiarot for that but that’s about it. And that’s still a deal for Edmonton.

Late? Oilers are in 7th in the worst division in hockey. As of today it would be the 11 to 13 pick. 3 teams tied for that spot.

Much as I like Romanov i’d have to consider it. Probably wouldn’t but i’d consider it.

To nobody else though. Barrie and Gally virtually a wash. 2 1sts and Foeggle for Romanov. Phew, that woukd make me sweat before i said no.

Yes, so why would Montreal trade Gally for scraps when they are better off keeping him. If we're arguing about what he'd be worth to Edmonton, it's a helluva lot more than Barrie to anyone (including Edmonton). You're going to have to add ATLEAST a 2nd round pick for somebody to take him.

Plese, by all means keep one of the five worst contracts in hockey, and tell your fellow Habs fans to stop trading him to places as if he's a significantly positive value. If he's so good, why are your cohorts so desperate -- not merely eager, desperate -- to trade him away?

I love the idea that one-point-per-seven games (the exact same stat posted by Tobias Bjornfot) Romanov is the next Cale Makar or Adam Fox. He's not the next Adam Boqvist or Braden Schneider. "Untouchable"? Please.

Who are you talking about? Price? Cause it sure as hell isn't Gallagher. Nobody said he's Fox or Makar... relax my dude, do another line of coke

Gallagher is signed for five more years at a cap hit of $6.5 million per year. That's bad enough, given his decline in production, but he's due $8 million in 2023-2024 and $9 million in 2024-2025 for a total of $34 million over the balance of his contract. That's why it's one of the five worst contracts in hockey.

YOU said Romanov was untouchable; YOU made the implied assertion that he's a top defensive prospect. He's not a top prospect; he's barely an above-average prospect at this time; and right now, he has the stats of a bottom-pairing guy. The idea that this package isn't a total Edmonton rip-off because Romanov is such a great asset is utterly delusional.

You're out to lunch if you think Gallagher's contract is top 5 in the NHL

1. Carey Price 10.5 M
2. Tyler Seguin 38 GP 19P 9.85M
3. Jamie Benn 38 GP 9.5M
4. Jeff Skinner 39GP 27P 9M
5. Oliver Ekman-Larsson 37 GP 7P 8.25M
6. Kevin Hayes 20GP 9P 7.1M
7. Marc Vlasic 35GP 7P 7M
8. James Van Riemdyk 41GP 16P 7M
9. Anders Lee 29GP 13P 7M

Those are 9 examples I took. You tell me how Gallagher's contract is worse than 5 of those. You're completely out to lunch.

Sorry if I used the word "Untouchable". I should've used a more appropriate word "unavailable". You're trading two garbage players and two 1st round picks for two players Montreal has 0 interest in trading. I never said whether it makes sense or not for Edmonton, I just said Montreal had no interest in it.

Top five WORST. Not "top five most." I'm the one who's out to lunch?

Top five worst in terms of what? Explain to me how only 5 of those players I listed above have better contracts than Gallagher.

You're not grasping even the essence of the concept I'm trying to discuss with you here.

Gallagher has five years left on his contract at an average cost (not cap hit) of $6.8 million per year.

Van Riemsdyk has one year left and is owed $5 million.
Benn has three years left on his deal and is owed $19.5 million -- less than Gallagher's average annual compensation, and less expensive overall to the team.
Hayes has four years left on his contract and is owed $24.5 million -- again, less than Gallagher's average annual compensation, and less expensive overall to the team.
Lee has four years left on his contract and is owed $25.15 million -- again, less than Gallagher's average annual compensation, and less expensive overall to the team.

Even the compensation due Vlasic, who is a defenseman and therefore not expected to have the offensive impact as a "power forward," is slightly less annually than Gallagher's. And no one in his right mind is going to claim that Vlasic's trade value is anywhere close to the trade value most Habs fans ascribe to Gallagher.

Skinner's contract is admittedly worse -- by quite a bit -- than Gallagher's, but then again, he's having a much better year than Gallagher.
