I promise you there is no price Ottawa would be willing to pay to bring Ceci back. Wouldn’t do it for a 7th. Definitely wouldn’t do it for a 3rd. Never in a million years.

Good point - I forgot about the history with Ottawa. Traded him to Seattle instead.

Strome isn't worth that kind of money as he hasn't even panned out on a stuggling Blackhawks and Coyotes team. Too much of a risk to bring him in at that price,

I don't trust Hart as he hasn't been the best goalie consistently plus the package the oilers would have to give up would be more than that too.

Ceci has been average for the team and I don't think there's much reason to trade him especially after just signing him

Carolina will most likely not trade Bear and just re-sign him instead. To add on he will want more than 2 mil (4+ million would be more probable)

Rakell will probably be offered a contract around 5.5-6 million in free agency and I don't think the Oilers will be able to match it or persuade him into coming here on a discount.

As much as Maroon loved it here, he will not be coming back. He's trying to win cups and probably stay in the USA. (closer to his family)

See, I disagree. A lottery 1st and a 30-40 point defenseman who can be a PPQB for Carolina's 3RD and 2G? I really like this from a Carolina perspective

I'm thinking the 1st would be one between the 16-32 range and Bear is having an extermely underrated season this year. In my opinion, he's on par with Pesce and better than Deangelo. Deangelo is more of a sheltered minutes type of guy with PP1 time as he isn't as strong defensively. He's still very young too and has the opportunity to become a number 2 or 3 dman with the right development which I think Carolina will do.

You don't watch a lot of Canes hockey huh?

Bear's been a healthy scratch recently due to his play. DeAngelo's been on the top pairing for a long time, and Pesce has straight up been Carolina's best RD again. Carolina's RD have been outstanding, with the exception of Bear, who's fallen off recently. Bear's certainly seen better play in his career than what he's shown this year.

His advanced stats have shown otherwise considring his WAR and xWAR are positive. I obviously don't watch a lot of Canes to see the whole reason why Bear is scratched and the eye test is always needed when considering the level of player but I still beleive Bear can be a staple in the Canes' top 4 for years to come. Still in all, the trade isn't worth it for the Canes as they have DeAngelo who is better than Barrie at this point and they only get back what I assume is a late 1st.

As much as we suck I can guarantee you Hart will be the last piece to be moved. That doesn't mean it can't happen and I'm not going to pretend to know what it'll take, just saying ironically we finally have the goalie but not much else going for us.

Right now, that first would be a lottery pick. At the rate the Oilers are going, that's 50/50 if it changes. This is a trade made in the summer, when Bear is an RFA and they still have DeAngelo to re-sign. Pesce and DeAngelo are both better than Bear, so Bear won't get the chance to be a top 4 D man for years to come. Raanta is an injury riddled backup, you throw him with a 3RD, who's shown promise, but not consistency, for a 40-50 point defenseman you could move and a lottery first? There's no reason not to.

I can think of a few reasons not to…

-A right side consisting of 2/3 of Barrie/DeAngelo in the playoffs is a recipe for disaster. They’d need to make another trade to being in a vet D

-If they trade Raanta, they have to make a trade to bring in a backup

So, is it worth it just for a lottery 1st, when they’re in win now mode…to me, no. It opens too many holes in the immediate roster while adding a player they have zero need for in Barrie.

It’ll be interesting to see what they do with Bear, but I highly doubt they move him in a trade like this.

No to all of this. You're overpaying/ targeting the wrong people based ENTIRELY on reputations.

Weak effort.

I like Stuart Skinner a lot but I think the only way the Flyers are moving Hart is in a package for Draisaitl

Barrie and DeAngelo aren't the 2/3. You know TDA is the 1RD, he plays with Slavin. Pesce is the 2, as he always is because he's old reliable. Barrie is an upgrade offensively on Bear 100% and yet still could be paired with someone like Skjei if he needs the 5v5 help. Barrie defensively isn't a turnstile (usually) he's not elite, but there's FAR worse. As I've said before, it makes sense.

They have to go and get a backup anyway. They cannot feed Lafontaine to the wolves, and Lyon as a backup long term is just not a good look. Makiniemi's hurt otherwise, he'd likely be next in line. Warm's also hurt, and they can't recall Kochetkov from Russia, so, yeah, they need a backup regardless of where Raanta is. If they turn that into a 1st, why the hell would you reject it? It's awful asset management to reject a deal like this.

And it's not like you're only allowed 1 trade per year. They could still make other deals if you think there would be holes!

If the trade is for a lottery pick then the trade makes sense but the oilers I assume would improve next year making it a later 1st. Barrie does not fit on th Carolina D core. He is not gonna 40-50 points if you already have guys like DeAngelo scoring 50+ points and Slavin scoring 40+ points. Barrie won't get the ice time to succeed on this team nor do you want him to get more ice time due to his very poor defensive play. Carolina does not need an offensive dman who can't play defensive, they should opt for a two way guy instead.

Slavin isn't an offensive D man he is a defensive specialist, and they openly need another OFD, hence the Klingberg links... They need another PP QB (because Slavin is dog water offensively) and they need an upgrade at 3LD over Ian Cole in an ideal world. Otherwise, this D core is perfect, and there's a need for another OFD. It's why the team openly misses Gardiner.
