I think IF Scheifele is traded the main piece has to be better than Carlos. Maybe Lysell is well thought of by Chevy and he is considered the main piece?. he is really small. That is a concern. Debrusk is of little interest. The 1st is a late pick. Probably better to get a young C (Studnicka?). I think other teams can offer more talent.

Marchand and Bergeron era is nearing an end, especially Bergeron given his age, adding Schiefele means you have a younger core with a 1C for the future. You have to give up to get, and you already have McAvoy on the right side. Demelo as the 2RD in a defensive role is fine. Getting a younger 1C for the future is neccessary for this team to avoid years of rebuilding or mediocrity

Thats excellent logic for going after a 23 or 24 year old centermen, not for going after a guy thats about to be 29 showing signs of decline.

And i think that’s pretty good logic in paying up in futures for a rental. “Welp, we’ll give up our first rounder because its the best available.” That’s not good logic in giving up a 25 year old 2D that has six years of team friendly term.

As far as eichel goes, I think the last team he pulled on a jersey that said Boston on the front of it he did something that pretty much ruined his hockey reputation in Boston. I doubt they made any effort to trade for him.
