Let's not forget, Taylor Hall (rental) was traded for Nick Merkley, Nate Schnarr, Kevin Bahl and a first rounder (Dawson Mercer). Matt Duchene (UFA -2) was traded for Samuel Girard, Shane Bowers, a first rounder (Bowen Byram), Kamenev a 2nd and a 3rd. lol

For one thing, the only piece in that Hall package that is truly worth a damn is the pick that brought them Mercer. Those other three players all have major weaknesses, and my end up as career AHLers. More importantly, one cannot simply pick out terrible deals made by one GM and set that as the standard. The Blues fleeced Buffalo a few years back, but that doesn't mean every GM will hand us a similar gift. Frankly, the entire notion of trade comparables is faulty. Every situation is different. And some GMs are smarter than others. Sometimes by a lot.

Well, I suppose it's possible, but would not say it's likely because most teams don;t have much cap to work with. Either way, there is no bidding war at this time.

Agreed. when we're talking prospects, they can easily turn into duds or they can become Samuel Girards. You don't know. And who's to say a GM won't get "fleeced" here with a Miller trade. We won't know until year 2 or 3 when JT is long gone from whatever team he goes to. The deals above are rumors that have been posted online based on the current ask. Do they happen? Probably not but that's the ask right now and if they won't settle for anything less until the off-season.

Ohhh... just to be clear, those three prospects were always saddled with glaring weakness and anybody who thought they'd pan out as NHL impact players was fooling themselves. Schnarr and Bahl are very poor skaters from an NHL level perspective, and Bahl has hands of stone. Merkely is small and a poor skater for his size, and already had major injury troubles. After all, he'd already been thrown out by Arizona. I'm not a big Hall fan at all and Mercer eventually ended up being the plum of the bunch, but in hindsight the Devils could have done better.

ya ya, Im with you. Hall was also a true rental and there was a very small chance he was re-signing.

If it was DeBrusk, 1st and a couple prospects that added to Lysell I'd consider it

          That's certifiably c r a z y talk.
Debrusk alone has more total goals+pts, including 16 big ones in playoffs (one a series winner (TML)) than practically the entire package of "picks/prospects/NHLers" in the trades combined...
          BOS hangs up...

Is this taken from the recent Canucks Army article? If not you should give it a read as you guys have very similar trade proposals.

I'm sorry dude but no, DeBrusk is getting overpaid and is looking like a worse version of Taylor Hall any year but this one and his hart trophy year. He has no little trade value along with barely being a second liner right now.

He actually wouldn't become our 2nd best forward. You are wrong. points aren't everything. Stop believing that a player who was just resigned is getting traded. This is a fantasy that doesn't exist. Also no team , especially Minnesota is giving up three 1st round pick for JT Miller when they didn't fir eichel

Do you understand this entire site is fantasy and nothing more than fans tossing around ideas of what might be cool to see?

I'm sorry dude but no, DeBrusk is getting overpaid and is looking like a worse version of Taylor Hall any year but this one and his hart trophy year. He has no little trade value along with barely being a second liner right now.

          Never said that.
The issue is you think JT Miller gets that many pieces from another NHL GM...
          ECHL or ACGMs maybe.
(poof) Vancouver is restocked w/ young pups and xtra-Cap for trading a 29yr old whose likely 1.25Yrs from UFA and gonna age hard given his style-of-play.

          Enjoy the lottery...

That makes more sense, I thought you were saying trading DeBrusk like that was crazy. Miller is gonna get a big trade bc of talk going around the league for him and people seeing him as a top line forward when he isn't an elite top liner

Let's not forget, Taylor Hall (rental) was traded for Nick Merkley, Nate Schnarr, Kevin Bahl and a first rounder (Dawson Mercer). Matt Duchene (UFA -2) was traded for Samuel Girard, Shane Bowers, a first rounder (Bowen Byram), Kamenev a 2nd and a 3rd. lol

Taylor Hall was also a season removed from winning the MVP and had in the previous season and a half had 50 goals and 80 assists in 109 games. Taylor Hall (a rental) was also traded for a 2nd rounder and Anders Bjork last year.

Matt Duchene trade was obviously an abomination in the end, but Ottawa was a goal away from the cup the previous year so that 1st was viewed as a mid-20s pick at most and we know what happened, can't just pick two instances that help you without a little background.

Miller may very well go for a heaping return, those are just poor examples. think whatever team that will give that much of a return will regret it, despite Miller being great
