Stasny should pull in a 2nd, especially with retention
Copp, same thing, bump to a 1st or hood prospect
Stanley to FLA for Tippet? (As a base anyways, not sure of values, maybe add Vesa).

Maybe the core is the problem? It should be telling that when a team that has gotten elite, best in the world goaltending over the last few years, gets average/okay goaltending, that they look this bad.

That said I don't think there's much to else to do. For the players they have locked up to decent contracts, it makes sense to probably just trade the older/UFA guys, hire the best coach possible, adjust the d again/play the young guys a bit, and hope the goalie goes back up a bit and the captain retires/goes on ltir. Ehlers has a nice contract, Connors also does for the offence. Perfetti looks real good. I would move Scheifele if there is a good hockey trade to shake this team and room up. Too long has everyone praised Scheifele and how great of a leader he is and how much hockey he watches. I wonder, in all that hockey Scheifele watches, what's he thinking when the C back-checks and plays above the puck in the d-zone? Dubois contract will be interesting.

NSH accepts. That'd be a nice 4C upgrade for them.

I like your take. It feels weird that the team looks this good on paper but folds as soon as the goaltending is mediocre. A Scheifele trade is interesting, but I'm not sure what it would look like since it's risky for the Jets and other team alike. I could see it happening if PLD signs long-term and Perfetti is able to move to C though.

Been saying it for years, this team is going absolutely nowhere with Lowry at 3C, he's a black hole offensively, they desperately need to improve the bottom six.

They really need to explore what the market is like for Scheifele, he just doesn't look interested in being a Jet anymore.

Interesting option for NSH. I'd do that -- even without retention (which NSH doesn't really need).

I would definitely try a new coach with Scheifele. One that could get him to commit defensively. Issue there is that I don't think him and Connor want to play like that. Although, I imagine they don't want to lose either. I think Claude Julien would be a nice fit there. He would get them to play a very good defensive game and maybe the Jets offensive talent can makeup for what has been the knock on Julien.

Other than that I think you make a hockey trade with Scheifele. I agree totally with your assessment that it would be risky for both sides. I'm obviously not a Scheifele guy, but there is no denying his offensive talent and good contract, and what seems to be a very good rep as a player (at least in the media). I would look to a team like Philly that wants to change things up quickly and maybe something could be worked there. I have seen someone on here suggest Horvat, and though I don't think Vancouver does that, I think a trade along those lines would be the way to go.
