Probably more like "Hell no! Never call here again!" - but yeah. Just wackiness. Same with that Dallas abomination.

Lol Dallas abomination. in his last 4 years Petry puts 204 pts in 407 games. Yeah he's bad this years but he have context. The habs suck generally and his family is still in michigan and they dont want to come over with the canada restriction. So I don't think that Petry at 4,25M VS taking a bad contract a prospect and a 2nd round is call abomination.

Oh, but it very much is. Reliving the past is meaningless when talking about a 34-year-old whose form is crashing down around him that is signed for three more years - he's circling the cap dump drain at this point. Dallas is not going to give a top D prospect and a 2nd for that (and don't have near the cap to do it even if they wanted to), especially when they are not contending. And if they were contending, they'd just keep Klingberg, meaning they'd have zero need for an RD anyway. So yeah, not a chance and not even close. Sorry to break the news, but that's real talk, my friend.

Sure just ignore that Lebrun and Savarelli and theirs contacts tell the opposite of you.

Hmm. Where in that article do you imagine you see 1) that Dallas wants him right now & 2) that they want to pay that much for him? I don;t even see the word Dallas on that entire page.

And do you think these guys are infallible or something?

I'm not saying that these guys are infallible. But saying openly that he's a cap dump drain lol that kind of intense. Subban at 9M return 2x2nd and 2B prospect.

1- At his going rate of play, he is headed straight for cap dump territory. That is certainly not a hot take, nor is it an original one. Lots of folks are saying this, which is precisely why Montreal is having to come out and say "Hey, we won't offload him cheap!"

2- I have to keep saying this over and over, but this notion of trade comparables almost never applies. Every team has different needs, weaknesses, restraints and competitive situations, and that's before we even get to the fact that time marches on. Plus, people always love to pick a bad trade and then set that as the standard - that's not how comparables even work.

As for Subban specifically, 1) he was a waaaaay better performer when this trade happened, 2) Santini was never a prime prospect and he was already like 23 at the time, and Davies was a 7th rounder, so calling them B prospects is quite the stretch & 3) both picks were in the mid-30's, so again not blue chip territory. That was a classic quantity over quality deal, and the Preds were cool with that because they really just wanted out of his contract.
