Calgary wont trade Monahan without a legitimate replacement for him. Especially for such a lowball return.

We may pay a pick to take on Lucic for the year though. He will only be owed 1M

maybe they'd do the lucic deal
but who'd willingly trade for monahan for a legitimate replacement as he has fallen off so much since that one 80 plus point season

Probably no one. Eichel was pretty close to the last option. Dallas for Seguin maybe? Monahan + (good) futures for Scheifele/Miller? The problem is right now Monahan is struggling (getting better from the beginning of the year but still struggling), his value is tanked and Calgary has no way of replacing him. It's a weird situation where you cant just get rid of him as that leaves a massive hole and you can't really just ignore the situation either. Maybe the answer is something similar to the original Duchene trade where Ottawa both traded out Turris and added Duchene simultaneously, so they never actually ended up with the hole in their lineup

Let’s start with dumping Ritchie and Hornqvist would likely both cost a first, although Ritchie might be able to be done with a 2nd and a 4th. I think you might be able to squeeze more out of MTL to dump Petry. And no way in hell Calgary considers that. Monahan is still a positive value asset, and now he likely stays in Calgary, as the only true replacement would have been Eichel.

Yeah especially after Lebrun came out saying an actual GM told him that Petry's value didn't change in their view since last year, he's surely going to cost 4 first round picks to dump.

Habs reject, no one of those players are cap dumps, Habs don't give pieces to trade them, you give us pieces to acquire them

Lol at everyone trying to steal Petry. Players value don’t change after 40 games when there is 5-6 seasons of excellent performance.

Jakob chychrun is having an awful season and no one talks about that….

And yes, I know JC > JP. Younger, better contract, arguably better player…my point is though that the value doesn’t change after 40 games when there is enough body of work. Especially in a season where there is more than enough to justify the drop in performance. (Whole team sucks, away from his family, more injuries than any other team) there are enough logical reasons there to not say that it’s because of age. Literally, 6 months, he was a beast haha

Even if they were, Montreal doesn't care about paying to dump cap right now.
