Lol

For the record I don't think Drouin would be a good fit on the Avs. His underlying metrics have been awful for a few years which makes him very unlikely as a target for an analytics-driven organization like that Avs. Bednar's system is also depends heavily on constant back-checking by forwards which obviously isn't Drouin's strong suit either.

Needless to say I'm just having playing around with this one... grin

At the end of the day i dont think the habs would say yes.

People bring up drouins analytics but compher's are really bad too. If the 3 forwards in this trade he has the fewest points this year as well.

Lehkonen if the habs trade him want a coleman level return (1st+ good prospect) and drouin at 50 percent retained is easily worth more than the difference between a top prospect and compher.

The deal also just doesnt make sense from a needs standpoint. If the habs were to go out and get a centre it would be a top 6 not bottom 6 option.

Finally the deal would prevent the habs from retaining on chiarot and that gap alone is probably worth a 2nd round pick.

Even if Montreal wanted this would likely create issues in Colorado with big contracts coming with their young players, MacKinnon needing a new contract.

In this scenario Drouin would be allowed to walk in UFA, unless he absolutely takes off and becomes a PPG player or something crazy. Avs basically just need a top 6 forward for one year in 2022/23 before Byram and Newhook need raises.

Coleman had a lot more value than lehkonen. At best lehkonen gets a barclay goodrow return
