Next season

Created by: Jah1722
Team: 2022-23 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 7, 2022
Published: Feb. 7, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Ducks slide out of top 3 in Pacific by TDL

CAR trade: 6/7 young RFA D for a playoff 5 D
STL trade: solid prospect and a 1st for Lindholm (I think he’s probably worth a bit of a better prospect personally tho)
NSH trade: struggling prospect and mid pick for a player who should have better counting numbers.
AZ trade: good prospect, mid 1st, young NHL player, and a 3rd similar to the Eichel return.
VGK trade: cap help. Steel has struggled Dadonov is still a quality player but VGK need cap space.
WSH trade: Schultz replacement for a season.

~30M in cap space for 23-24 offseason to re-sign Terry, Zegras, Drysdale etc and fill roster.

I love Robertsson but Lindholm is the best option for the Blues at the TDL IMO so I'd be happy. I think HL would fit at the deadline w 50% retention and no other cap moves.

Great value just a couple thoughts.

I saw Dadonov a lot in Ottawa, he was a mess. I know he improved in Vegas but I wouldn’t be so quick to throw VGK a life preserver. They are in cap hell, you can literally squeeze a second rounder to take dadonov. They have no choice if they want to play eichel.

Also I wouldn’t include pastujov in that chrychrun trade. That guy has been a beast in the minors. Gives the ducks a second scoring threat outside of terry. The ducks don’t really need him anyways. Draft and developer, there’s no need to rush a proper rebuild. You have Fowler who isn’t slowing down and one of Thrun, Lacombe or zellweger will hit for that second spot LD. And with Benoit cementing himself as that thir pairing guy, I find he is a waste of assets. The picks the ducks select now will be ready to contribute in 2-3 years on an ELC cap hit, when Zegras, Mctavish and Drysdale truly enter their prime.

I’m not high on Kostin but I also don’t know a ton about prospects. I just kinda went off Wheeler’s rankings.

That’s a lot of hoping. Moving prospects for proven high end NHL talent has to happen to become a contender anyways and Chychrun has 3 years left.

Kostin is a solid Middle 6 forward probably could fit in well in Anaheim.

Mmmmm yeah Army could do that, though he'd probably haggle to switch the 1st to '23 or to switch Robertsson to a different prospect. But maybe he just says screw it, and pulls the trigger if there's a small amount of retention.

I get it trust me. And getting chychrun as perfect trade as it gets. Just giving up all that potential upside for a steady left D in a good contract, doesn’t do it for me. It’s opinion I guess and bias towards our pipeline. Also living in Ottawa and seeing everyday the result of the EK65 trade, I guess it makes me uneasy.
