I think its going to be Dadonov

Description
I think VGK will keeps Smith for the playoff run and trade Dadonov. Keep in mind, they won't resign Smith in the off-season. They need his cap for Hague, Roy, & Howden. But for one more run, they will keep Smith over Dadonov. Brossoit makes too much sense for a trade as well with Logan Thompson signed for 2 more years.

Agreed, Smith only solves this season, Dadonov provides more room for next season.

The Rangers might not have enough cap space to retain their own forwards next year, and they're loaded at wing anyway. They're definitely not taking Vegas's cap dump. Smith, sure - there's enough cap space for him through the rest of this season. But the Rangers won't commit to trading for anybody signed beyond the 21-22 season until the summer.

I agree, I think it’ll be Dadonov and Brossoit moved. Though could easily see them nab a guy like Craig Anderson to backup rest of year. I’ll take it a step further and predict Smith does get extended. I know makes little sense but they might rather move on from Roy and even Hague rather than lose Smith. Assuming nothing major changes, Roy is the 4th C, though probably a winger with how Howden has played. I’d rather pay a few million more to have Smith there. I’d also be fine not giving Hague the contract he deserves. Retaining him slides Whitecloud to 3rd pairing. I’d rather have a low paid veteran there and when Alec’s contract is done, I’d assume Cormier is ready.

The Rangers can't afford Dadonov next season, but I do agree that the Golden Knights are more likely to trade him before Reilly Smith.
