Looking at the stepping stones of the ones likely to be moved

Created by: ColonelX
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 9, 2022
Published: Feb. 9, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
**THOSE ARE NOT STRAIGHT TRADES**
Only putting bases on both sides for each trades, you can then decide who adds from one or both sides.
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Dellandrea, Ty
Additional Details:
Hughes said he likes prospect more than draft picks and he'll likely target teams with depth at a position of need for Montreal, knowing this Dallas makes sense because of their center depth. Like it or not Seguin's signed until '27 then Faksa and Hintz complete the team top 9 at this time and prospect wise they have Johnston, Stankoven, Dellandrea and Bourque. Lots of centers and Dellandrea might've been passed by others.
DAL
  1. Petry, Jeff
Additional Details:
Rumblings from insiders that Dallas has interest in Petry if/when they can move Kilnberg. Please don't say he's trash and only a cap dump, he's been good for 735 games and stank on the following 38.
2.
MTL
  1. Barrie, Tyson
Additional Details:
If Montreal does move Petry, is looking to buy low and having a warm body in a jersey why would Barrie not fit the bill? I see Barrie being traded a lot by fans (Don't know why but I'll go with it) so instead of dumping him somewhere for nothing why not get something back 'à la Lucic-Neal' type of trade?
EDM
  1. Armia, Joel
Additional Details:
Trying to think outside the box here, too many times I saw Poolman for Armia is a done deal. Oilers would save 1.1M$ a year but get an extra year with Armia.
3.
MTL
  1. 2022 4th round pick (FLA)
FLA
  1. Kulak, Brett
Additional Details:
People are looking for depth at TDL, likely that one of Kulak or Wideman goes for a mid-late round pick.
4.
MTL
  1. 2022 1st round pick (TOR)
TOR
  1. Chiarot, Ben ($1,750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
People can complain as much as they want about how much they like Chiarot or not but top 4 defenders always come at a premium on TDL.
5.
MTL
  1. 2022 1st round pick (MTL)
ARI
  1. 2022 1st round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
You give me that back!

The only trade that doesn't make much sense is Armia for Barrie. Barrie is still has plenty of value around the league. You even said yourself defence go for a premium at the tdl.

Chiarot isn't a top 4 defender. He's getting destroyed this season.

Chiarot is a top 4 dman in the playoffs then
If he isn’t, then Matthews isn’t a Franchise player, just Elite

Playing in a top 4 and being a top 4 are not mutually exclusive. Chiarot road Weber's coattails. He's showing how bad he is this year.

thats just wrong lmfao, yes chiarot is a top 4 dman on the leafs
even if he wasnt, that dosent mean matthews is a franchise player
anyways, leafs want term, highly doubt they trade a first for someone without term

anyways chiarot would be a top 4 dman on the leafs, but on a contender like the lightning he isnt, anyways leafs have better options they can get for this price

A take ? Chiarot is a top 4 playoffs material dman
So if you are saying he isn’t, it’s such a bad take so I sarcasms that Matthews isn’t a Franchise player

I said Chiarot was a top 4 dman, someone said lmao and you replied to him. Maybe you just didn’t got the sarcasm of Matthews isn’t a Franchise player. But yes, I will enjoy the bottom of the league and hopefully it stays like that another year or two. Even if it’s hard to watch every game, we might draft some players like Matthews Marner one day

Leafs guys bringing nothing more than feud, color me shocked.
Can't wait for you guys to actually win a round so you stop being so uptight on all platforms.

This site hates the Habs. They just go "points go brrr" without knowing what he was good for.

For the ones who want to know, hes good at throwing hits, which is great for playoffs as we have seen.

He also did over 20 minutes average toi last season with Weber, Petry and Edmundson

He was absolutely not. Price was. Its so transparent to see all Hab fans giving all the credit of last year's playoff run to Chiarot who they want to move for major assets. Whenever they try to move him to TO, Chiarot was the single greatest player in the whole of the playoffs last year. He rode coattails and has been completely exposed this year.

Thanks for not claiming Petry is still worth Bourque and a first round pick

In fact Faksa could be useful for Montreal while clearing out cap space for Dallas, we kinda need a guy who can win faceoffs. You think we could squeeze in an extra pick alongside Faksa and Dellandrea? Something like a second?

Faksa is decent just over paid and our coach over uses him. Yeah I figured something along the lines of Fox, Dell, and a second/third
