Not even close for Miller. No pieces in that trade of much worth to Vancouver

Why do Leaf fans think Ottawa is gonna trade Zub? The Sens aren't trying to be a gutter team forever, and they won't ever get better by shipping out any good player they have just because they could get a good return.

The Toffoli trade would suggest otherwise. They are 2 very comparable players in value. Toffoli has longer term, similar cap hits, etc. While Miller is better offensively, Toffoli is much better defensively. Even then, the Canucks would be getting a much better prospect here than Calgary did. This is the kind of value the market has said the Canucks should expect back for Miller, if anything they should expect less with Toffoli's longer term.

You want 1.5 years of a point per game player at 2 mill per for that? Lol

Because apparently the Sens are a farm team for other teams and every time a good player comes, we should trade him for futures because we suck

You aren't a point per game player just because you have been for a short period of less than 1 season. Miller falls below that when you give him a reasonable sample size. Hell, even the 1.5 years you are getting, look at that sample size of Miller's past play and he falls below. Other than that, you can disagree with the market if you want to but the Toffoli trade is what it is.

1) Toffoli wasn’t retained
2) Miller is a million times better than Toffoli

He's better this season in the easy part for fans to see, the offensive zone, but his overall game is actually weaker than Toffoli's. When you include past few years too, or you know...a reasonable sample size, even his offensive game falls.

No matter how you want to look at it, the Toffoli trade has given us a picture of what the market actually is and it will drag Miller's value down.

Regardless of who is the better player from an analytical perspective, I'd be pretty shocked if league wide JT Miller wasn't the more valued player from a GM perspective.

And this trade has placed him as more valuable. This is a reasonable ballpark to expect Miller to fall into. I'm just showing that the Canucks fans posting expectations of some ridiculous amount more than a 1st and a top prospect are off their rockers and now the market has confirmed this for us.

Lundkvist and a 1st is fair value for him. Obviously it would be more if he was retained

Just because YOU want to lowball him, doesn’t mean the Canucks will. The Canucks are probably not even going to trade him to Toronto. There are many other teams with pieces that the Canucks want, not your late first next year, and a cap dump

Again, you haven't put forth much of an argument to why the market/Toffoli trade is wrong. Or to put it in your words, just because YOU want this value to be off doesn't mean it is and the Toffoli trade has shown us as much.

JT Miller is a much much better player than Toffoli is. Toffoli got a 2022 first and a bunch of other pieces. He is a sniper yet he only has 9 goals and 26 points in 37 points. Miller on the other hand, is versatile and can literally play whenever and whatever you want him to. He also has 17 goals and 48 points in 47 games. I’d say that’s a quote but better. I’m the last three seasons. He has scored at a PPG rate. Vancouver has basically said that Millers value is 3-4 GOOD assets including a first round pick and most likely a blue chip prospect

The Toffoli trade has nothing to do with this trade. Different teams with different needs and different players involved. Miller's value is much higher than Toffoli's and the Canucks won't be trading him cheap with retained salary just because Toronto wants him. Robertson isn't a sure bet prospect; Ritchie is a cap dump, and the picks are a year away. Easy no from Vancouver.

It may have nothing to do with this trade but it does show us how much teams are valuing wingers. All trades are related in this sense in that they show us the market. The Canucks can want a lot more but they'll likely end up just playing out Miller's contract then when teams aren't willing to meet their demands.

Well again, the underlying numbers which I've already posted here say that Toffoli is a much bigger offensive contributor than his stats say. He's just been playing on bad teams. Vancouver can say they want whatever they but the market today showed us what teams are willing to pay. What that has shown us in fact is that if the Canucks want to move Miller, they are going to get quite a bit less. After the Toffoli trade, its very clearly an unrealistic demand.

Miller plays C and LW. I'd rather keep him than give him away for a low ball offer but there seems to be a lot of teams interested so I'm sure we will get better offers.

Zub is easily worth the Leafs' 1st but they'd never trade him anyway
