What is the issue with Monahan? How did he go from a point per game player to this

Maybe I'm higher on Zary but I'd do this for the Devils.

Not sure tbh. I don't follow the Flames but they're cap-strapped and he makes a lot of money and isn't producing like he was. Could be a good move for the Sens if they cant sign Paul, If Monahan needs a change of scenery and gets back to a 60 point guy then all is well. He just doesn't seem to offensively thrive under Sutter's system.

first round pick, center who had great junior success but hasn't translated in his rookie year In the A. I'm impartial but I think it helps both teams smile

Any insight on why he's struggling in the AHL?

Nah, I don't follow the Flames, all I know is that offensively his numbers aren't great. only a kid though, 20 I believe.

Disagree. I think the Flames are an absolute force to be reckoned with here. Deep, big, mean, and talented. perfect for playoff time.

if we can get that for Kulak , i wonder how much can we get if we retain haft of his salary .
Thank you for including a 2nd rounder against a 6th rounder in your next offer.
We deeply appreciated it.

it's a sacrifice but Zacha is the perfect third line center - big, physical, defensively sound and has more offensive upside than Monahan over the last three seasons. Young, cost controlled. It's a big sacrifice sure but with Pelletier and Coronato in the system, I think Zary is expendable and this move helps the Flames win now.

For starters he got injured at the start of camp and missed like 10 or so games to start the season. Think this put him behind the 8 ball and it made it tough to catch up. I also believe hes in a different role than normal. In his brief stint last season he was on a line with Ruzicka (now in the nhl) and phillips (Stockton’s leading scorer) who could drive the line but this yr he is more in a position where he has to be the driver.

Nice. We can continue our run of Z’s in the lineup. Zary, Zacha, Zajac, Zubrus, Zelepukin

I think Zary for Zacha is a good deal. If anything Devils could add cap space, taking a contract back or something.

Marek made a really valid point on a 32 thoughts recently in regards to Tyler Seguin. "When it comes to hip surgery, give them a year."

Monahan is in that same boat

Monahan's injuries/surgeries have taken a significant bite out of his game. Change of scenery won't fix that.
He wouldn't find a spot in Ottawa's top 6 next year and with Colin White already in our bottom 6, it's just too much cap.
Unless you're retaining a significant chunk, or adding a sweet prospect, Ottawa should for sure decline.
