No one wants PK Subban. His contract is just too big for what he brings. The Devils would have to get involved with a 3rd team to eat cap to even make him a realistic option for anyone while keeping him worth the cost.

Flames just dropped a load on Toffoli, they don't have the cap space of a league min contract

I don’t see any reason why Nashville would do that

So did Dubas surprise one of the Leafs players worth more than 9M a year in a dark alley with a crescent wrench and now they're on LTIR? I'll openly admit to making at least one bad trade post, but what was the thought process for this?!

This seems like a revenge post from a Devil's fan who is mad that fans think Subban has no value.

It's his contract sir, he would be an okay get if he cost 2 million or less but at 9 or even 4.5 he's not worth much. No one has that much space to throw away.

There would have to be double retention on Subban if he were traded to the Leafs

Unless that 2023 1st round pick going to Nashville is guaranteed to be a top 3 pick they wouldn’t even begin to consider that trade. A first round pick from the last draft (and a highly ranked prospect at that) for a 1st and a 3rd round pick two drafts away just isn’t near enough compensation

I feel like it wouldn’t be hard to find a team to do retention on subban. He was only due 2M going into the season (the rest of this years pay was bonus). So with half the season gone he’s only due 1M so devils retain 50% (4.5M caphit but 500K actual dollars) and teamX retains another 50% (2.25M caphit but only 250K actual dollars). So in terms of retention sure it’s a big caphit but not a huge financial burden

PK at $2.5M (dbl retained for an addl 4th to that team) and less than $1M in real money has value. A cap dump from the team he's traded to also adds value. Now is there a dance partner for that, TBD.

Well thats the thing. Subban alone isn't worth much more than a mid round pick but to get his cap hit down to a manageable amount for a team would take that midround pick for a 3rd team to do. There's just no value in Subban because of that contract. What are the Devils going to do? Take a 3rd for Subban and pay a 4th to make his cap manageable?
