Rasmus literally sucks and isn't good. Take off dumba because he will block the trade himself. Dumba literally makes wild go.

The d-corps just gets eaten up. MN can't outscore their troubles in the Playoffs.

Yes Dumba is the hype man for the Wild and a definite glue guy, so based on that i think Billy is reluctant to do this, but Dumba's contract is problematic right now and as you should be noting the Wild are not physical enough for playoff hockey. Risto has long been miscast in the wrong role he is a 3rd or 4th d man not a 1 or 2. Dumba is the superior defenseman but Wild are getting a good deal on Giroux.

teams just need to leave Ristolainen alone and let PIT take him in FA for a steal, considering they are one of the few teams who can fix him, if that's possible.
Of course then he'll leave and turn into Schultz in WSH or Ceci in EDM tears of joy

I would much rather trade the futures and Rask (for cap purposes obviously) for Giroux than swap Dumba out for Risto to make it happen. The purpose of buying at the deadline is to improve your team, not subtract from one part of the team to help make another better when you don't need to do so whatsoever

We can move Dumba for some actual value and cap relief after this season is over

You may be right.
Only a year ago many of us considered Dumba and Risto to be near equals. Unfortunately for Risto he had always been miscast and never had a partner the caliber of Brodin.
Obviously Dumba is the better player but, if Wild get in they have shown they can't play with physical teams. Risto is 4 times more physical than Dumba, who happens to be the Wild most physical defenseman, and when in the playoffs physicality matter.

I don't disagree about Risto/Dumba comparison. Brodin/Dumba have years of chemistry together, even if Dumba and Risto were completely the same player you can't replace that time and knowing the other player.

It's like on Brodin/Spurgeon. On paper it should be a really good d-pair, on the ice it isn't. They just don't read each other very well (or something) and are sloppy.

Totally agree, and one other factor Billy G would need to consider in a deal like this.
