Melnyk would never ok this. Fiala's contract is entirely salary and there isn't a signing bonus Minnesota already paid to make the actual cost to him lower.

Horrible for the Sens. We'd have to add Kaprizov to dump Fiala. Maybe throw in Boldy and Rossi too just for good measure.

I'm not sure who Dorion is scouting or if he has a side chick in Minny but I don't see them trading a player in their top 6 before the end if their playoff run.

Fiala is an RFA, no need to trade him right now. They might not be able to sign him in the off season due to some crazy buyouts $13M next year and $15M for 2 years after that, but they can trade him after the playoffs.
