It benefits Tampa more to keep Seabrook than move him

Yes it doea. For LTIR purposes, to help manipulate the cap. It’s the whole reason the acquired him in the first place

No they acquired him to take the uninsured portion off Chicago's hand opening up a contract slot and saved Chicago ownership real cash

No they didn’t.

They acquired him because it allows them to use LTIR relief and be able to exceed the cap in certain ways to help afford their contracts.

They’re not not gonna freely help another team save money. It’s a business, not a video game.

All I'm reading now is blah blah blah because you're completely wrong. It is always better to not have LTIR than have it if you can avoid it conversation over.

It saves TB ownership real cash, it opens a contract slot and allows them to accrue more cap space for TDL. Have a nice day.

Yeah nice job. Although you would be able to survive next year cap wise, the core will get broken up in 2023-24 season.

Wouldn't doubt it lol. 31 jealous teams. My NYR have to give the extra 0.5m-1.5m NYC tip on all contracts, sucks. The only way he goes this low is x8 years, not 3! Even then? He can probably get 7x5.5m=38.5m. Sign him 8x3.5m=28m, he loses 10m in 8yrs which means nothing cause it's Florida. Worry about it then?? We might go that route with Strome, depending on playoff performance

Tampa bay isn't helped or necessarily harmed by Seabrooks contract. He's certainly not an asset that they don't want to lose. The OP is right that it opens up a contract spot and they could move him, I don't think you have a good understanding of the cap implications of LTIR contracts

Lol.

If your cap is 80M w/out Seabrook and then you add him then yea technically you go over the cap ceiling but it’s a net neutral effect.

80M + 6.875M = 86.875M

Seabrook to LTIR
86.875M - 6.875M = 80M

= net neutral effect

Chicago and Tampa made the trade for two reasons:

1. Bowman doesnt like off-season LTIR. He would rather do in-season LTIR. It is very hard to ice a competitive team with 10 million in LTIR. So, to make that happen he needed to move his much larger LTIR contract. He didnt ice a competitive team but that wasnt the point.
2. Tampa needed to move un-replaceable cap with replaceable cap. TB trades Johnson, who was underperforming, for Seabrook. Now Tampa can replace Johnson's used salary space and use it elsewhere. i.e signing near min cap hit guys to fill the bottom of the roster.

Tampa day did is the off-season prior by moving Paquette (and someone else but the name is slipping my mind) to Ottawa for their goalie that was going to be on LTIR. Tampa bay was then able to use that LTIR to sign some close to min contract deals that they couldnt do otherwise.

While the Seabrook deal doesnt hurt Tampa, it doesnt help either. They cant bank any amount of cap space and hope that the numbers add up close to 81.5 million so that they dont miss out on any cap space.

Brayden Coburn and Anders Nillsonn he also saved Melnyk 3.2 million in real dollars being Nilsson had 2.6 completely uninsured and Gaborik had 600 uninsured

Ottawa cared about saving money. Also replacing dead money with usable money.

Chicago it was about in-season LTIR.

Seabrook will be very attractive to Zona after that signing bonus is gone.

Not really most of it is paid by insurance but having him locks up a contract slot they don't need and you don't acrue as much cap space for the TDL when you are over including LTIR
