There is no team that has cap and Kane would agree to go to make this type of trade. The NHL cap is reality for all teams. Just like "anywhere". Teams have no reason to take on non value contracts.

Sure. Not at the full $10.5. But with retention there are absolutely teams that could make it happen. Also, Kane and Panarin's chemistry is undeniable. If NYR switch Kakko out with a high end AHL/junior prospect or two and Kane at 50% retention, Kanes contract could expire just in time for Kakko and Laf to develop into what they are going to be.

The rangers could not do kane with 50% retention.
Next year we have 8m in cap space with 5+ players to sign to extensions.
We're going to be losing strome or re-signing him to whats likely a salary increase.
We cannot afford to have 3 wingers costing almost 20m in salary cap space.

What I'm saying is they could make it work but it is not likely. It would take some cap dumps. But the same scenario goes for Miller that everyone seems so high on NYR picking up. He costs almost as much as Kane half retained and if they wanted to leave Miller at RW, they will still need a center. That or move him to center and they still need bolster the RW. And then they'll have to resign him after next season. It's doable just very unlikely.

This trade is stupid for the Rangers. What the hell is the point of getting older cause they aren’t winning a cup in the next 2 years. This trade is complete crap. Keep Kane or send him elsewhere.

If miller were on the rangers he would be at center. If they have him at center they have the nhl wingers that they dont need to bolster the wings, especially this year if strome isnt moved.

Everything I've seen about it has him playing right wing because "he played RW for NYR in the past". Also, I haven't heard anything about NYR wanting to move Strome. But I guess that could change.
