Monahan isn't a cap dump, Dvorak and Monahan are close in value but given length of contracts and cap hits Dvorak will cost a SLIGHT bit more. Not Zary ++ but more like a Boltman or Stromgren type of prospect. Someone between a 2nd-4th round pick. Kulak is worth a 4th and Montreal isn't likely retaining since he is already under 2 mil and the difference between a 3rd and 4th round pick is negligible.

1- I think that take is a bit excessive. He's definitely way overpaid, but he's not a total waste of skates or anything. In fact, he's played better than Dvorak by a decent margin.

2- Uhh what now? Zary is absolutely an A prospect. No clue how you imagined otherwise.

It's amazing how much Montreal fans over value their assets. Remember when Toffoli had to start with Pelletier? Monahan has value, he's only 2 seasons removed from a 22 goal season and 3 from 30+... not a cap dump. Valimaki has more value and a higher ceiling than Kulak. Dvorak has the same amount of goals, less points and has never scored 20. I would not even consider this trade.

So petry is 1 year removed from 5 consecutive 40 point seasons. Obviously he's not a cap dump and is worth 1st + more.

I agree with that statement. If Montreal can't get that right now, it would be better for them to hold on to him. It's not good asset management to trade a player in a down year unless it's absolutely necessary
