Bye Markstrom
Markstrom is purely an asset. Flip him for something you really need. I'm sure a vezina caliber goalie can get you a first and a prospect at the very least

2-1st a roster player and a prospect would be fair value for Tkachuk. If I'm Treliving, I wouldn't want to trade Tkachuk, but I would definitely consider that offer.

I doubt this trade would ever happen either, but that's the fun of being an armchair gm.
I also don't belive that their cap situation is that dire. Lucic for a 6th would solve any cap problems if necessary. Zadorov won't be re signed clears up almost 4 mill and the Brower buyout comes off the books (1.5 mill)

Off season moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hii</b></div><div>Yea, Ottawa isn't giving up a middle six winger a top ten pick and a very high second round pick for a very good player that fits Ottawa's system but doesn't fit their timeline or development plan. Calgary is in such a bad situation financially that they could just offer sheet Mangiapne or Tkachuk after the draft and make their team better.</div></div>
Calgary would match a Mangiapane offer sheet. A Tkachuk offer sheet would cost a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd at minimum. (2) 1st if the offer is over 10.3 million Tkachuk is still young and would speed up the rebuild.

I agree with that statement. If Montreal can't get that right now, it would be better for them to hold on to him. It's not good asset management to trade a player in a down year unless it's absolutely necessary

Dvorak = Monohan + Zary + 3rd, no other choice
Kulak (retained) = 3rd.
So add zary + 2nd + 5th to make it fair.</div></div>
It's amazing how much Montreal fans over value their assets. Remember when Toffoli had to start with Pelletier? Monahan has value, he's only 2 seasons removed from a 22 goal season and 3 from 30+... not a cap dump. Valimaki has more value and a higher ceiling than Kulak. Dvorak has the same amount of goals, less points and has never scored 20. I would not even consider this trade.

Scheifele
I like that line up a lot. 3rd pairing is a little weak, but there are ways to upgrade. That is a lot of assets for one player though. I doubt Winnipeg would do that. They would have to hope Mony has a bounce back, Dube and Zary reach their potential and would have to hit on the 1st, which would likely be a late round pick. Thats a lot of ifs...

Why toffoli costs alot
I wouldn't trade Pelletier for Toffoli as a 1 for one deal. He's young, still cheap and has a comparable if not higher ceiling than Toffoli. Not to mention the intangibles. Offensively creative, high energy and doesn't cheat defensively. I think there is a deal to be had and your evaluation is kinda close....ish, but I believe Pelletier is a non starter.

Could easily move Dube down to 4th line center and put Pelletier on the left side of the Backlund line. Also meant to put Nyquist with Mangiapane and Monahan.

I think you are overvaluing Zary. He's the Flames 4th best prospect ( Coranato, Peltier, Wolf) I don't see him as much more that what Dube is now. A middle 6 player with some offensive upside. Connor is an upgrade on Dube, on a reasonable contract and you get him now. Plus we know he plays well with Mangiapane.

Hockey trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yycofred</b></div><div>I don't hate Chychrun as a target, I don't love giving up Hanifin in that exchange. Hanifin has taken leaps in the last two years and has become a pillar on the back end. Zadorov and Richardson will be here until their deals run out as no one is going to give up anything of significance and a huge part of the reason the Flames picked up Zadorov is the playoff run he had against them in Colorado, don't think the Flames move him before they get a playoff run out of him.</div></div>
I think Zadorov has some value for all the same reasons Calgary picked him up in the first place. That trade would be to reclaim some picks and clear up cap space for a top 6 winger potentially.
With Hanifin, I think you know what you have and he's probably at his ceiling. Chychrun has a little higher upside.
