I can't see the Habs doing that. I think they keep Anderson around unless there's a massive overpayment.

Yea, Ottawa isn't giving up a middle six winger a top ten pick and a very high second round pick for a very good player that fits Ottawa's system but doesn't fit their timeline or development plan. Calgary is in such a bad situation financially that they could just offer sheet Mangiapne or Tkachuk after the draft and make their team better.

Anderson shouldn't be available. He fits the rebuild and has the size and speed we need in our lineup.
Monahan has no value to Montreal as a struggling, pending UFA.

Calgary would match a Mangiapane offer sheet. A Tkachuk offer sheet would cost a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd at minimum. (2) 1st if the offer is over 10.3 million Tkachuk is still young and would speed up the rebuild.

The trade still does not happen, and I'm not sure that they would be able to match a Mangiapne offer sheet because of their cap constraintes that is considering if they resigne Johnny Hockey. Brad Treliving will do everything in his power to keep Tkachuk though.

I doubt this trade would ever happen either, but that's the fun of being an armchair gm.
I also don't belive that their cap situation is that dire. Lucic for a 6th would solve any cap problems if necessary. Zadorov won't be re signed clears up almost 4 mill and the Brower buyout comes off the books (1.5 mill)

You think Calgary's financial situation is that bad? Lol, it's like a fraction of what Tampa and Toronto have gone through in recent years. Any OS you offer will be matched or never signed in the first place

What do you think that overpayment would look like?

A 1st + a good prospect, but it won't be worth it for Calgary. I think Habs hold onto him because there's a very limited number of this type of player with such a rare combination of size & speed, and he's the type of guy they want with Caufield. He's so good at creating space in the offensive zone for Caufield.

Montreal fans seem to think all their players are worth as much or more than Eichel.

That's fair, I didn't know to the fullest extent the situation of Calgary's cap. So, I agree with the fact that both players will get kept and matched in a qualifying offer scenario.

I think you have to understand how rare QO's are to begin with, KK and Aho are rare things to begin with. The last signed one before that was the ROR offer sheet in like 2012. They've also, as you probably noticed, cause bad blood and are very frowned upon around the league

Yeah, just raising the possibility. Cans management absolutly trolled Habs fans though because of the Aho and KK offer sheets. The trade is the more common way. Side question: Are they both eligible for arbritration because that could change this a little bit.

Both are Arb eligible, Calgary likely files for arbitration with Tkachuk though, so he can still technically be OS'd
