Something to Consider

Created by: SNipeSHowInc
Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 20, 2022
Published: Feb. 20, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think something that the Leafs still will need if they want to make a deep run is a Yanni Gourde/Blake Coleman type of player. Idea is that Wood is on LTIR for the next little while, can the Leafs take advantage of no salary cap in the playoffs like we have see in the past. This is strictly a playoff roster so the cap doesnt matter to me here.

Devils fans, dont care that "wouldnt even trade him for Auston Matthews"

Honestly, Wood might be a good guy that a team could do LTIR shenanigans with.

But there's no need to give us that much for him, jeez.

Not nearly enough for Wood, need to have Marner involved in that deal.

I have it similar to the Coleman trade, cant trade a first since thats needed for Manson. If thats too much for Wood I'd be happy with taking out Nick Robertson

Sorry these are just terrible for the Leafs. Hoping a guy returns to form for the playoffs. Woods has been just a middling player with last season being the exception.
No way, the Leafs should be trading their top two winger prospects, a first and third and their 20 minute second pairing Dman for two guys who may not even improve the team

Manson is a definite upgrade over Holl cant deny that. You also get RFA rights for Wood

Miles Wood is not worth that much. Second rounder MAX.

I dont think Manson is a big enough upgrade on Holl to warrant a first and third.

The 3rd is just for retention

Yeah but even then, Manson isnt the player he was. He's declined heavily since 2018. I'd rather keep the first and use it on a guy with term. Dont need another Nick Foligno situation.

We won't be able to resign Woods, so he is basically a rental. you traded our best offensive prospect in Robertson who many analyst think he will be a great player, and added our last first round pick who looks also pretty good, and then you added a second rounder. Thats heavily too much.

Sorry it's the 2022 version of Manson. Is he that much better than Holl? Next season the Leafs don't have Manson or Lyubushin which leaves the Leafs with just six NHL Dman if you include Liljgreren.
Leafs really don't cap next season for Woods at left wing where there are so many cheap offers. I stick be my statement...iffy improvement this season, poor roster management next season, and throwing away young assets.

Wood is hurt and on IR for rest of season. He had hip surgery in late October with 6-month estimated recovery timeline. While the timing may work for a Tampa-LTIR-playoff-shuffle, his hip likely won’t be there.

Good idea though.

If you want Marner it would cost you 3 first rounds and Woods.
