Way too much for Kappy in my opinion. The guy is a third line speedster, not a top-6 scoring machine.

I know but if you think about it would the pens really want to trade him to the caps.

It's not about Pens trading him to Caps...imo it's more about why would Caps make an inquiry on the guy. He's been a bit of a disappointment really, and his cost is going to be bloated for a division rival.

If that’s what the caps are offering them, they would be stupid to trade him elsewhere

Value is there (if a slight overpay) for McCann. But you don't need to go top-5 prospect and a 1st for Kapanen - I'd bet Pittsburgh would move him (even in-division) for a 3rd/4th + a guy from the back half of Washington's top 10 - someone like Alexeyev or Bear Hughes.

Vrana was also consistent performer. Kappy is very erratic.

Vrana was streaky. But I guess more consistent than kappy. There are probably better options out there.

Kapanen has a lot of potential, but I don’t think that potential can be realized in Pittsburgh tbh.

Lol dude you should be a politician! If he cant reach his full potential playing with centres like Crosby and Malkin I think his potential is all maxed out.

Split the difference then, like someone said upthread - Bear Hughes & a 2nd. Like you said, Kapanen isn't unlocking his potential in Pittsburgh for whatever reason, so Washington shouldn't need to give up their top D prospect *and* a 1st for him, even once you factor in the in-division trade tax.

I agree with this assessment on the caps.
However, these two teams will never be trading partners like this.

I know. And it’s unfortunate. Oshie came back today so we might now need him now but still need speed and movement
