Selling hard

Created by: Reff
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 22, 2022
Published: Feb. 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
These are all possibilities that have been expressed in many reports. But the biggest question remains: what will happen with Carey Price? Will he ever play again for Montreal? Or maybe retirement?
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. 2022 1st round pick (MTL)
ARI
  1. 2022 1st round pick (CAR)
2.
MTL
  1. 2022 7th round pick (EDM)
EDM
  1. Paquette, Cédric
Additional Details:
Anywhere
3.
NYR
  1. Lehkonen, Artturi
Additional Details:
Lehkonen will probably be extended since he's RFA.
4.
STL
  1. Chiarot, Ben ($1,750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
We need LW and St.Louis looks to have interest in Chiarot. Reports say that Chiarot could fetch a 1st and a prospect, but I think it's a bit too much, so only Neighbours without the 1st seems fair.
5.
EDM
  1. Drouin, Jonathan ($2,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
With Puljujarvi being injured for 4-5 weeks, maybe EDM will want to replace him to stay in Playoffs spot. We take Turris's contract to give EDM cap space.
6.
MTL
  1. 2022 6th round pick (MIN)
7.
MTL
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (FLA)
FLA
  1. Kulak, Brett
Additional Details:
Good 7th D with Playoffs experience.
8.
DAL
  1. Petry, Jeff ($1,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Draft day trade. Hughes doesn't want to retain any salary. Are Detroit or Dallas willing to take his full contract? If Petry continues to play the same way he's been doing since St-Louis took over, maybe a team will take his full salary. But for now, let's assume not.
9.
MTL
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (PIT)
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (PIT)
PIT
  1. Allen, Jake
Additional Details:
IF he returns before the TDL and shows that he's fully healthy, he could be traded at TDL. If not, he will probably be traded at the draft, so we would have Price and Montambeault next season.

Edmonton isn't spending its cap space on Drouin. Puljujarvi is a big physical winger who can score some goals, Drouin is the farthest thing from a replacement.

Neighbours is a top prospect at the moment. I don’t think the blues would do that! Maybe Bolduc and even then it’s kind of too much

I'm more curious as to how a guy who is also on IR is going to fill in while Puljujarvi is on IR.

This isn't possible for the Blues from a cap standpoint. Blues don't have the prospect pool either. Only way this works is a hockey trade and Montreal isn't in the position for that.
