I don't think Trouba wants to play in Canada.

That's a pretty bad trade for Anaheim.

If he has an extension in place sure. Otherwise you aren't getting that return for him.

According to Darren Dreger Winnipeg and Toronto supposedly had a deal in place. And Trouba said no that he has no desire to play there. Neither the Fowler or Trouba trades are good for either Anaheim or Winnipeg.

Pretty sure that a sign and trade kind of deal for Cam Fowler will cost you more then Kapanen+1st round pick Toronto would still need to add another player.

What is Trouba's problem? He seems to have more to say about where he'd like to play than any other 23-year-old in the league. He comes across as a selfish prick.

By the sound of things he just doesn't want to play in Canada period, He wants to play in the Eastern US by the sound of things pretty much like Shattenkirk. By the sound of things he hates Winnipeg and Canada. Time will tell what he eventually does.

In my opinion they could get more than that for Trouba. I think maybe change the 3rd to a 2nd, change Nielsen (not sure who that is, is that a goalie????) to Bracco, add a little something else, and that's a deal in my opinion.

Yeah, i don't know where Trouba wants to play. I mean, he re-signed with the Jets, but yeah, he might want to go back home. However, i can think of a reason why he re-signed with Winnipeg, but wants out. Here's why:

I think he might want to go to a better team as Winnipeg isn't very good right now, but maybe he wanted to not make them worse by not re-signing. I think he wants to help them out by making a trade happen, but i don't know. Maybe he just wants the cup. But it seems too early for that to happen.

Leafs aren't giving up good prospects for one year of Fowler. And LHD is not a Leaf weakness. Why can't people appreciate term in contract instead of playing values.
Trouba, I appreciate that he wants to play somewhere else. But once you sign your first ELC contract at age 18 or whatever, you are under that teams control for seven years. He knew that. Trouba has played his cards right by signing just a two year contract last October. When that contract finishes he has two years of RFA arbitration rules and then a UFA if he wants. So in conclusion he will be a UFA in three years if he wants and doesn't sign a long term contract in between.
Heck maybe McDavid does the same thing in the summer of 2018. Turns down an eight year, long security contract for lesser contracts and freedom in four years.
CD282 liked this.

He's a 24yr old LHD d-men that plays 24+ minutes a night, he's going to cost 1st + prospect at minimum even as a UFA next off-season. If he came with an extension, you'd be looking at a 1st + young NHL forward that can make an immediate impact.

Good American boy who wants to play in the States. I wouldn't ask Larkin though. He think he's an expert on Trouba, but he's far from it.

Such good friends yet you need to use a report by Dreger about him not wanting to go to TOR lol. I would have thought with your families such good friends that you wouldn't need an NHL insiders info because you'd have your own.

BTW saying you know someone doesn't add any validity to your comments.
