Ducks have no leverage in a trade, I don't expect them to get a first for a rental

Ducks are desperate, they will have no leverage in a trade when Lindholm doesn't want to re-sign

EF even said that the Leafs aren't. trading their prospects or first round pick for a rental. Also, Lindholm is another Tyson Barrie

How exactly is Lindholm another Tyson Barrie?

I'll ask you this again: How did rentals get a 1st last year then? How do rentals ever get a 1st? Why doesn't this happen to all rentals?

Yah and Dubas said he's not trading a first or prospects for a rental this season. Also, in the documentary, Dubas even admitted that he was getting fleeced by the CBJ, but he still thought it would be a good fit. Also, the Leafs got a first round prospect in Matthew Knies by drafting him in the 2nd round that teams are calling on

This is not Leafs-specific. Okay, the Leafs won't give up a 1st for Lindholm, but other teams will.

Yes, Knies was a great pick, but still having that 1st would've been even better. So many good players were available st 25. Imagine Knies + someone like L'Heureux, Zellweger, Lambos, Pinelli or Olausson.

My coffee came out of my nose when I read the Barrie comp. Hilarious. For a guy that says "Are they prospects from the 5th or 6th round? No clue who they are other than Holloway and I'm someone that is familiar with prospect pools" in reference to Bourgault (1st round pick), Tullio (Leading scorer by 23 points for the Gens this year), and Carter Savoie (4th round pick, tearing it up in the NCAA) is pretty good reason to just ignore this guy.

I get that everyone overrates their own prospects, but Leafers are a special breed.

L'Heureux would be nice but getting Knies doesn't really bother me that we lost a first round pick. Unless Dubas gets desperate, EF confirmed that a player will need to have term for the Leafs to trade the first rounder

Now you're just straight up lying. You aren't kidding anyone. Of course it bothers you to not have that 1st round pick. Just because you got a great player with your own pick later doesn't mean giving up that 1st didn't matter. Getting Knies has nothing to do with that 1st and you could have had both.

The idea that not having a contract for next year makes you lose leverage is hilarious. If that were the case, then there'd be about 120 deals on deadline day, and the highest picks ever moved would be 3rd/4th rounders, and the best prospects would be ECHL'ers.

My thoughts exactly. How would anyone ever get anything for UFA's in that scenario?

I mean, I for one would think it's hilarious if he gets traded to Toronto, because all of the sudden he'd be a future HOFer, and there'd be 100's of threads on here dumping the mediocre players to re-sign him this summer.

I find it weird and hilarious that a fan of the team that gave up not just a first but a third and a fourth for Nick Foligno less than a year ago would now think that this is the proper value for Hampus Lindholm.

There is absolutely no relationship between Matthew Knies or what Dubas said and Hampus Lindholm's trade value. They're as close as the Earth is to the Milky Way. Just because Dubas said he's not going to trade his first this season doesn't mean that he's going to make that absurd offer for Lindholm and Verbeek isn't going to do anything other than piss on Dubas' loafers.
