Minnesota isn't making their d worse. Don't know why you are trading Dmitry when he's been solid and I'd Russian who kaprizov loves and talks to in Russian. For that reason, wild aren't trading him. Take out soucy and the 2nd in the 1st deal.

Decent offer for no retention. I would hope Chevy finds a team that would need some to maximize the return though.

Well soucy is playing at a MV of 5.2 and if you can get that for the rest of this year and next for 1.3M compared to kulikovs 3.2MV for 2.3M I’d take the cheaper better player. Your points to chemistry are so by the wind after they’ve switch lines constantly the last 3 games I’m not going to even address anything related to that.

I think the ties to him and MN are because it’s such a simple deal, picks for player no retention

So Holl, Dermott and a pick gets Rossi?

Knies is not equal to Rossi, coming from a gopher hockey fan. PPG in the AHL>NCAA (specifically big ten)

Can't afford to do this. Long-term outlook shows $12M in cap space once you add in a $1M increase. You'll have to re-sign Fiala (approx $7.5M), Kahkonen (approx. $2M maybe more if he starts more games), McCann (approx $4M+), Dewar (approx. $800-900K), and you still need a depth defenseman to replace Goligoski (approx $800-900k), a forward to replace Stastny (Rossi, so about $900k), and if there's no taxi squad next year you'll still need at least 1 more depth defenseman and forward (call it $1.5M).

Using all conservative estimates for those ranges, letting McCann walk, and without the depth tax-squad replacement signings, that's right at $12M. And you're still a forward short since you need someone to replace McCann.

I just don't see how we could add Soucy and McCann.

Soucy is on a deal that is 1.2 less than kulikov, so how does it work if you don’t move kulikov? I would foresee them moving McCann.

He's an A prospect. A big player with skill. You think the return on that 19 yr old is two 6-7 dmen and a late 2nd?

Well A-, but yeah, if TOR wants to upgrade the back-end with solid cheap talent they are going to have to pay for it. Nobody is giving them a deal out of the niceness of their heart……

You'd have to add in about $875k since you've retained Soucy's contract down to about $1.375M and Kulikov is at $2.25M. If you're moving McCann then why make the trade? McBain has looked really good in college, I'd like to see what he can do in the NHL, think he could be a good middle 6 forward which is what McCann is.

If that’s is what it costs to get a legit L1C for a playoff run, I wouldn’t at all blink an eye at Billy G, I would be in full support.

McCann isn't a 1C though. He's playing that role in Seattle but on a contender he's a middle 6 center.

Based off his MV at 7.7 I would think that’s borderline bonafide 1C, but yes that is Seattle.

How is this an upgrade? No the leafs will not be sending Knies for spare parts.

Based off your bias doesn't move the needle for the leafs. It is a ridiculous trade that the leafs would want no part of. Leafs have 8 nhl Dmen. Why do they want 2 more?

Allowing 7 goals to Detroit doesn’t scream NHL caliber defense.

Not if you watched the game. I don't think the defence was bad in that game at all.

I did, I watch almost all TOR games since I take the over in all of them. Pays off pretty well.

I wouldnt, Benn is an upgrade on Dermott and Sandin (currently an upgrade on Sandin) so hes still bottom pair Kulikov is the same, would still be bottom pair.

Id rather have Sandin in my bottom pair and hold onto Matthew Knies than making that trade.
This really would be similar to (as others have suggested) trading Dermott, Holl and a 2nd for Carson Lambos, and you wouldnt do that.

Not lambos, but a player similar to knies ie peart, maybe o rourke or hunt if you made the 2nd a 3rd and a 5th or 6th

Leafs: 2.87 goals allowed per game
Wild: 3.14 goals allowed per game

Maybe the leafs should make a trade with a team that actually knows how to play defence...

Or with a competent goalie too.
