Davidsons Plan pt 2 - Toews wants to retire a hawk after season Kane wants out

Created by: Nikolai_Khabibulin
Team: 2022-23 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 2, 2022
Published: Mar. 2, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Kane decides he wants to win elsewhere as we head into a rebuild. Toews decides quietly it his last year and will retire after the season, and wants to retire a Blackhawk (and hopefully joins hawks front office).

A lot of cap space available in 2023 offseason!

Buyout Tyler Johnson after year if the logical move.

Give Kapanen a shot at being part of the future after acquiring him in kubalik deal, if doesn't work, retain 1/2 at the 2023 TDL. Same goes with Strome (though his friendship with DeBrincat is important).

Kurashev will play a lot as there will be injuries, and can rotate in sometimes, likely part of starting lineup in 2023-24, if not, a trade piece

John Moore cap dump by bruins as they will need space, and won't cost a ton

Team likely gets good/decent lottery odds for bedard/michkov/fanitli

Don’t see Edmonton biting on that but I’m sure movable parts and shouldn’t have any impact on your bigger picture plan here.

I just cant see NYR moving Kaapo.

Maybe just Kane and 50% for Kravtsov, NYR 1st and NYR 2nd or a depth player (Gautheir?) Kind of thing. Or Kravtsov, Chytil and a 1st

I wouldn't think to do this if Gorton was still there but I feel like Drury is going to make an all out play. Laf has been playing too well to trade recently, and Kratsov's value isn't too high because he wants out to play

Maybe just optimistic about how much Kane would return too since he's the Blackhawks GOAT (besides Khabibulin)

If Kane wants to leave Chicago and is likely headed to the Rangers, then I don't see why they are going to give up assets.

Take a look at what 5 years of Eichel got. 1 year of Kane isn’t coming close. Keep him till the TDL and we will send a 1st & 2nd tops

Eichel was injured, that was a big question mark and really decreased his value, if he wasn’t injured he would have gotten a much bigger return

Washington won’t have room for De Haan with Mantha returning. We can still send Kempny but not for any returning player.

At this point Kubalik = Kapanen. I straight up swap would be fair for both sides.

Injured and missing part of a season. 4.25 seasons of Eichel if we want to be closer. There weren’t any concerns about the surgery although BUF owners were unintelligent about the whole thing. Eichel also said he was happy to stay in BUF if they let him do it. 1 season of Kane isn’t worth Kakko. Lottery tickets at TDL will do just fine
