Are you trying to trade for Jeannot, or just get him to wish you a happy birthday on cameo with that offer?

Yeah me too I really doubt Miller gets dealt I think he has priced himself out of the trade market if that makes sense

I can't see why the Canucks would trade him anyway, they still have a shot at the playoffs.

Yeah that's where I am at too, the team Is alot better then people make it out to be think they need to trim the fat instead of trading a core player like miller/boeser/garland

Plus Demko is a solid goalie. If they tighten up the D, they could be a playoff team as is.

According to the well respected playoff odds calculator by Dom Leichsen the Canucks have a 8% chance of making the playoffs. It would be a mistake to hold onto assets solely to try and make it into the postseason as an 7-8th seed and be eliminated in the first round.
That said if the offers aren't there for Miller might as well wait until the off season and reassess at that point. There are a decent amount of good forwards that could be available at the deadline this year which may temporarily reduce his value. If that is the case then there's no point in selling cheap on him, wait it out.

What were the odds the 2018-2019 St Louis Blues would make the playoffs when they had the worst record in the league after 37 games on 1/2/19? They hired a new coach and went on to win a Cup because they didn't listen to well respected playoff odds calculators.

Doms models are kinda **** tho, he had the kraken being one of the better teams in the leauge, it makes sense to hold on to him if there is no offer that blows us away imho

I mean there are outliers in statistics, and during the time you quoted, the Blues would be one of them. Do you recall what the Blues odds of making the playoffs were at the TDL in 18-19? How often do teams that are last in the league at that same time period make the post season? Also, the Blues had been a consistent playoff team for many years prior to that, except for the 17-18 season, the Canucks have been a train wreck for the last decade minus their playoff bubble run.

Either way, if your team odds of making the playoffs are less than 10:1 in a proven model (again there will always be outliers) and your team is 6-4 in their last 10 games, holding onto assets because it is still statistically possible to make the postseason is a missed opportunity to attain assets that will hopefully help your team make the post season in the years to come.

It's not a perfect model, but statistically speaking it is an accurate one.

I mean as a guy who uses analytics every day i just don't like using them for playoff odds to many variables when it comes to injuries to our team or the other teams ect, i can think of countless examples when a model has gotten teams wrong i think they are good at when looking at a player himself but not playoff odd's wise, all it takes is one losing streak from the oilers and one win streak from van to turn the tide in their favor

Jeannots got more goals this season than gauthier has points in 80 or so games of his career. Considering they’re the same age this would be a tremendous step back for Nashville and a 2nd isnt going to fix that

Yeah, not a good fan because I recognize crazy one sided trades that would never happen.
