The Canucks are my second favourite team, so I'm not being Blue-Biased.

I see many upsides to Vancouver.
First, this trade solidifies the Center Position 1) Tavares 2) Miller. Canucks become weaker on defence but could now make a serious offer to Klingberg. Holl is a serviceable 6-7 dman at best, and with the salary retention, he becomes an option to bury if need be.

Now for the buds.
This spreads out the salary dispersion better over the front and back ends. It strengthens the blue line and slightly weakens the offence. Still, the Chatham native comes closer to home and should be a solid 2nd centerman and hopefully finds chemistry with Nylander and company. JT will not be replaced; he is a career point gamer.

I was so excited when JT signed with us but... logistically since, it has been problematic for the team as a whole.

JT Good luck, please agree to this; BTW., the Island is beautiful. Thanks for everything!

The problem is that while Tavares is a good player his $11m cap hit is way too much and will hamstring any team going forward just as it is hamstringing the Laffs now.

I love when people are cool enough to say "Laffs". They are the epitome of coolness for sure.

Or I suppose maybe not bright enough to come up with anything original or on their own. One of the two, I guess.

Why would Vancouver take on that contract?

Well, we can come up with our own for the rest of them:

Vancouver Cucks - This is my favorite (if you don't know what a **** is, look it up)
Calgary Flameouts - cause that's what they do
Edmonton Oinkers - cause like McDavid and Draisaitl bacon is delicious, but the rest of it stinks
Winnipeg Jokes - they should be much better than they are
Ottawa Seniltors - They've forgotten how to win
And then there's the Habs. Their fan base is in so much pain, I just can't hurt them anymore. It's bad enough they have to live with a toilet seat for a logo..........

Yeah, I think they use it because everyone wants to be the king on the hill.

As it stands the Leafs have the second most cup wins throughout history. Unfortunately, I have never seen one of them and I am 48 years old. Therefore, I have no defence against it. Let's face it our team has been very poorly managed since expansion. Any of us that lived through the 80 knows exactly what I mean... in fact what we are seeing now is almost a carbon copy of the 80s. It was in the early 90's that the Gilmour trade launched us into relevance only to be robbed by a missed high stick. I would argue Jamie Macoun was just as important to the early 90's success.

This is the basis of my proposal. Let us learn from the past and get this team on track now before we watch it all fall apart. AGAIN!
