If a team is interested in trading for a guy in the off-season who happens to be a free agent, then in all likelihood they'll talk to him before he signs with you and sign him themselves. So it's unrealistic to say that you're going to sign Andreas Athanasiou and then trade him to Detroit, and sign David Perron and then trade him to Toronto. That's not how things work.

I'd be willing to make a "field" bet that neither Armia nor Byron nor Montembeault gets more than a fourth.

I know Petry has been linked to Philadelphia but I REALLY don’t see the fit. At all.

The signings are at the start of season, the trades of anthanasiou and perron are at the 2023 deadline

Ellis is injured long term. Myers isn't there. It makes sense if you think about it.

In Minnesota they have at center. Eriksson Ek. Hartman. Rask.
Dvorak would fit well in a 2nd line / 3rd line role. Habs could take on rask if needed too.

So is Philadelphia going to give up picks and prospects for him? They don’t seem like the team who would do that. They are losing Giroux , why do they a 34 year old in exchange for picks and prospects?

If they rebuild, their gm will be fired. Philly ownership is sick of losing

Not sure but, can't see the Wild being interested. He has been bad this year and i don't think he can help Wild in the he playoffs. His contract also further complicates the Wild cap situation.

they have a big cap pinch coming and at 4m+ dvorak isnt special enough to justify the cap.

Rask is a free agent. You don't need to make three proposals a week forcing Christian Dvorak on us. No. You have been called out by your Montreal fans

The pinch is next season, when the cap hits from the Parise and Suter buyouts balloon, not this season. Rask's contract is up this year.

No Rasks contract expires end of this season and Wild really don't need the space this season by the time the Trade deadline comes around the Wild will have accrued roughly 11 million of cap space. It the next 3 years Wild are screwed.

Philadelphia has playoff aspirations. They want to contend. Perhaps illusions of grandeur, but they went all out to compete this year. Having failed that, they seem to be looking toward a retool.

Speculation has Ristolainen leaving. Ellis and Petry secures the right side with puck moving options they didn't have this season. The fit is there.

They'll be looking to recover value in Giroux and Ristolainen trades. If they can move JVR, they likely will. Possibly even including him in a move for Petry is an option.
The price won't be as high as if Petry had been himself all season. There's an opportunity to pick him up for less than it would otherwise take, while getting much higher performance value.

Not a fit. Dvorak hasn't been that good and his 4.5 million deal ties our already difficult cap situation even more.

Ducharme was the primary reason that no Habs players were that good. If Dvorak returns and has noticeably more success under St Louis, would he be a consideration?

If Addison is able to handle 2RD, and Dumba prices himself out, I'm wondering if something around Dvorak and Dumba is a future consideration.

Well, he has to be good for more than half a year for us to have interest in him and his pretty long deal. That's tricky since Dumba will be traded this offseason if he is moving. The timelines don't match that well.

These trades are all so bad for the other team that this is more like a troll ACGM then an actual one, the basis for all the trades are scwede towards Montreal getting top prospects for nothing.
