i'd pass on that kadri contract, he's not worth that much. i'd rather sign a 5 mil center to share 2C with newhook and resign nichuskin with the other 4 mil

The structure of the Girard trade makes sense, one of the view sensible from COL's perspective Girard trades I've seen.

Tho wonder if COL waits to trade/let walk a top D for the following offseason when DToews is up, esp if Byram and Newhook's bridges are manageable. Not as good asset management, but they may view it as getting more solid runs out of the Rantanen contract window. The MacKinnon, Kuemper, Burakovsky contracts seem light. Think COL will let Burakovsky and Kadri walk, pay Nichushkin, and trade one of Behrens, Helleson, Barron for fwd help that fits their window.

I'd consider it if the picks were swapped.

to me i had the cap space then. I doubt Sakic would ever sign that tho. I 100% see him signing like a 2 year, 6.5 mil deal to try and win a cup. Then sign somewhere else. I really really really think he would wanna stay, increase his value and then sign a really good deal in 2 years

As proposed, there is no chance Sakic does that. As for him signing a short-term deal, his value is as good as it's going to get - can't see him short-changing himself when there will be more than a few teams willing to throw money and term at him in the offseason. At his age, he can't afford to risk getting injured or seeing his production, and his value, decline over the next few years even if it would be a "winning" move. Last chance to cash in, he'd better take it.

I doubt many other teams take the risk of signing him for so much long term. Reminds me of a Skinner type problem. I dont think he will suck but its a bit risky after a breakout year so late
