Ottawa doesn't do that.

That 2022 1st round pick (OTT) is 5th OA right now...

JBD is also key in building a defense capable of preventing goals against.

I've been thinking a lot about swapping Addison for a forward prospect. There was a post last night about Addison for Kravtsov that I thought was sort of interesting, though I think Guerin would hate the fact Kravtsov refused to play in the AHL.

Immediate and overwhelming "no" for the Jackets. We don't have a need for more puckmoving or offensive D (altho you get partial credit for recognizing the RHD situation), but more importantly Marchenko is extremely highly valued by the organization; he's not going anywhere.

Yeah the purpose of this post was the Addison Marchenko swap. The Fiala is just a proxy to depict the hole he leaves in the lineup.

You can assume some sort of condition on the pick. As for JBD, I find it hard to believe he’s off the table when it comes to a Fiala trade.

Yeah if they go the route of keeping Dumba and moving Fiala, I’m leaning towards moving Addison for a fwd. Kravstov is interesting but his AHL issues seem like an immediate turn off for Guerin.

Marchenko was on my mind because I’ve been watching these SKA games to see Marat.

It's not that he's OFF the table in a Fiala trade, but in this proposal he was added ON TOP of a top-5 pick

Ottawa needs a top-6 RW but they need a top-4 RD even more, which is what JBD can/should be

Pieces that could be available :

- any pick outside of 1st
- Erik Brannstrom
- Egor Sokolov
- Filip Gustavsson
- Roby Jarventie
- Lassi Thomson

I appreciate the list of available players from OTT. Unfortunately it’s completely different depending on who you ask. There are piles of Fiala to OTT trades on this site with opinions all over the board. I pretty much just threw a dart and called it a proxy.

For the sake of this proposal, we can just say it changes to Jarventie and the pick has conditions.

Someone like Owen Tippett could be interesting, though I imagine Florida would want a more established player for a cup run if they traded him and they also already have a ton of RD.

Yeah no worries if you’d rather keep your guy, but saying this is an “immediate and overwhelming no” means you’re either underrating Addison or overrating Marchenko.

Undervaluing Addison, deliberately, because (like I said) we don't need offensive D; he simply doesn't have the value to us that he would likely get elewhere.

Yesh Tippett wasn’t on my radar but he’s another one that is consider. I’ve seen some Hoglander proposals too.

I think if you open up the door of moving Addison, there are a lot of possibilities. Everything from prospect swaps to larger package deals become available. You’d obviously want to be pretty careful that you’re getting good value back, but it’s an intriguing option just because he has a good bit of value and plenty of teams would be interested.

2023 with Top-10 protection and it's doable I'd say, Fiala would look good on Stutzle's wing (or maybe with Chuck Norris) but that 2022 first won't be available, I doubt it.

I think the Sens are very high on Jarventie (and he does have an intriguing skillset), I mean they took him over Peterka even if they were able to scout Peterka a lot while scouting Stutzle, but you have to give to get and Fiala is good and young enough

Tkachuk - Norris - Fiala
Greig - Stutzle - Batherson
Formenton - Pinto - Brown
Crookshank - Paul - White
Watson/Kelly/Kastelic

That could be an awesome forward group

I personally think MN can do better than Jarventie and a top 10 protected 2023 1st. Jarventie is fine, but he’s boom or bust and not the type of prospect I’d be after.

It’s probably not too far off on value though, and would ultimately come down to what Guerin deems the best offer.
