Laine will probably re sign in Columbus but if he doesn’t he will be traded for futures or players locked up long term. I like provorov but you aren’t getting Gavrikov too. Also don’t see the jackets locking up that much cap on defense with Werenski already making 9.5. Gaveikov probably gets extended or dealt for a first, second, and maybe a B prospect

I think this isnt enough for Braun at the moment. He is playing 1st line D minutes with a positive hockey war. Really cheap as well. Playing 20+ a night. Will most likely slot in the third line D pair for most playoff teams but he should be able to get a 2nd for his services.

3rd pairing defenseman doesn't return 2nd round picks. He might be playing great in Philadelphia. What's his value to a different team? It's not nearly as high as what it will be to the Flyers. I'm aware he's been fantastic. But 3rd pairing D just don't get that in return.

You do when you're trying to win a Cup. He will end up on the third line but should be on the rest of the leagues 1st or 2nd line. Just makes the case for an incredibly strong and Deep D Core for a playoff run. If this was a normal hockey trade mid season he would retain a 3rd for this season. You get a bit more at the deadline normally.

See, the issue I have with that is simple. When was the last time a 3rd pairing D man returned a 3rd?
