Description

The caps really don’t need that much forward help like people think, they don’t need a top or even middle 6 forward it’s just that injuries and a slump of offense made it look that way. But look at their recent games with all their stars back they are fine. They need a playoff caliber goalie and a solid offensive defenseman to replace Schultz on the 3rd line and 2nd PP

This is the best direction they could take, simple stuff that are huge improvements. Vesey is a great replacement for hagelin during the playoffs, Schultz has sucked and Subban fits the system well and would really boost the team, on top of adding Holtby who is having a bounce back season and is historically 2 times better in the playoffs. Not to mention he would really energize the locker room

Agreed. Vanecek is probably the better option over Holtby for WSH given the last games.

I like Vitek but I think Holtby would be better in the playoffs and For next season, when Samsonov and Holtby last played together Samsonov was great and consistent. Having Holtby with Samsonov would help Samsonov reach his potential. My problem with Vitek is that I don’t think he will get better than this and he isn’t good enough to be a cup winning goalie

Why the hell are you trading VV for Holtby? He's already so much better than Holtby, younger, and cheaper. That'd be a huge loss for the Caps. They shouldn't be trading for Holtby at all. Love the guy but he isn't good anymore. If DAL wanted a late pick and eat half his contract then sure.

I had a similar pkg to Wash. Send Kempny to NJ also, Add Iorio to Jersey, adjust to make fair as you see fit. Work with Wash in the off season for one of their young Gs

Lmao trading Vanacek for Holtby is an absolute trash move. Vanacek has claimed the starting job and is rounding into a franchise goalie on his current trajectory. Holtby was absolutely cooked when he left us and his revival isn't sustained enough for it to make sense to bring him back and expect him to carry a playoff run. I'd rather trade Samsonov because he's got more trade value and has been much worse than Vanacek for the past two seasons

Who is over valuing him, no one said that. HE DOES have value at $2.5M (double retained) though

Iorio is the Caps best RHD prospect and has been valued quite high in general. If you think dumping Kempny (a UFA with a sub 3mil salary) is worth a very high RHD prospect, that is insane.
