Carolina doesn't want or need Archibald. They have cap issues already, they can't afford to take on more external salary

Devils would want more for Graves if they traded him

Both trades involving a player coming to Edmonton carries term I don’t think Oilers can afford. I’ve looked at graves and I like that idea just too expensive at this moment in time. Allen is a wast considering Kosk and skinner should be ahead of him. Do you want an Allen skinner tandem next year? I don’t would rather resign kosk for one year like him more.

I think Allen is worth a 2nd alone. If you want the Habs to take Smith you have to add a 3rd or B prospect

Id prefer any option that eliminates Smith from the conversation next year...

You haven’t watched Allen because he is clearly better than Koskinen & Skinner

There's zero reason Montreal would do that before the 2023 Deadline.

You clearly haven’t been watching kosk since the coaching change.
9-2-1 last 12 starts .927% and that includes going against some powerhouse teams Tampa Florida Carolina Calgary.

Smith can be buried with little penalty or bought out. No need to take on a poorly performing backup, and spending a 2nd on him isn't good asset management.

There is plenty of time in the offseason to sort that out.

true

but it doesnt seem like they are willing to promote skinner now and not use Smith. We need some help to get in this year, would love it to be skinner, but team insists on it being smith for whatever reason

Yes I am watching and I know he is in a good stretch of games especially Away, but that doesn’t change the fact Allen is a CLEAR upgrade on Koskinen

Smith played very well last year they just want to get him back to that level again. Even get him to league average that’s a huge boost for the team. His puck handling ability helps avoid pressure from forecheck and can reduce wasted pp time waiting for a player to come and fetch puck after the pk dumps it. He just needs to be able to stop pucks as good or close to as well as kosk and he’s worth keeping around.

Well I would easily consider the healthy goalie playing better is the better goalie. Seems pretty clear cut to me.

Allen have been playing stellar for 2 years
Koskinen haven’t been a good starting goalie for years and now because he got a good stretch you don’t want an upgrade where you need it the most ?

Kosk has had great stretches like he’s on right now over the past few years. It’s not a one off. The only issue he consistently runs into is being overplayed. That issue is all on coaching staff not the player. Have no reason to think Allen would do any better under the same circumstances. Actually could make it much worse since kosk has proven more durable. I’m not saying Allen is brutal or bad just that kosk is better. Both are more suited as quality back ups.

You can still sign Koskinen (mistake imo) and flip Allen next season if/when Skinner is ready. While moving a struggling Smith and having a reliable 1 A/B that isn't going to be out for 3 weeks during the playoffs because he sneezed too hard.

Why add Allen just to have to flip him in offseason? Let’s assume smith is completely out of the conversation career is done still rather kosk skinner as the tandem to finish this year. Think it’s very important moving forward into this offseason to get a better look at skinner at nhl level know more of what he’s capable of. Hate the idea of throwing more bodies infront of him while he’s done nothing but exceed expectations.

It's about this year first and getting past the 1st round (or even winning a couple of games). Figure the rest out after seeing the results.

I don’t see how Allen helps solve anything for this year. He’s not better than kosk so he wouldn’t be the starter come playoffs anyway. Biggest impact he will have is being the second goalie with term need to move on from in the offseason.
