Hurricanes have Martin Necas and Seth Jarvis behind Teuvo Teravainen at RW, so wouldn't be in the market for Gallagher to begin with. Add to that the fact that if they wanted a 29-year-old winger, they could re-sign Niederreiter to a new contract for substantially less than Gallagher's and save themselves the first-round draft pick. Nino scored at the same 0.6 PPG rate as Gallagher in 2020-2021 and is having a much better year this season.
