Why does everyone think WPG needs a C or LHW or LHD in return for trades?
RHW and RHD are our needs… not more centers who will have to compete with the other thousand centers we have… and if you must offer a C… make it a RHC., so we can play him on the RW if he doesn’t cut it as a C.
WPG has like 5 right handers in our system… we don’t need any more lefty’s

Also, not enough for Statsny.

JETS DECLINE

He's an old center that isn't really productive and is on an expiring contract. The Jets have no incentive to keep him at the deadline. I guess swap Bowers for an equal D prospect

Didn’t know Eugene Melnyk was on the Yotes and Jets, being cheap retaining salaries as he always is

Because everybody has an abundance of LW and LD prospects, and most ACGM’s are just interested in making trades that make 1 team better with no consideration for the other teams need only what appears to be ‘minimally fair’

Statsny is sought after for a reason… and everything you’ve said shows your lack of knowledge on why.
Statsny will cost a 2nd + Beaucage

Stastny is not getting a second round pick. Thats just a gross overvaluation. He is not going to get much because teams know the Jets have no reason to keep him.

Jets have every reason to keep him
He’s a great leader and mentor for our youth, plus he’s absolutely loved by the Organization, the Team, and the Fans… Statsny is the type of guy you sign to low cap, 1yr contracts until he retires, regardless of his on ice production.

They will take the first 5th round pick or mid level prospect offered to them. If they like him so much, they can just sign him again this summer.

Just send the Jets a 2023 3rd round pick for Stastny and its a deal, can retain 50% for the Avs if it's needed.

Not for a 3rd I wouldn’t.
I’d prefer to keep Statsny, so if it’s not a trade worth while, I’m more than happy to say no.
This offseason his new contract would be lower in cap and he’s definitely worth keeping.

He’s over .5 PPG who is on a sweet deal, especially at 1/2 retained and can play up and down the lineup with anybody. This offer gets beat easily

Times ticking and most of the true contenders have made their moves, a 3rd might be the best they can get.

After the hit pieces the local media did on him I doubt Stastny wants to resign in Winnipeg.

We are not a contender though.

I don’t live in WPG, so I don’t get the local media stuff… I’m not on the twitter…lol

I know the Jets aren't a contender, I'm saying the true contenders like Florida, Tampa and Colorado are likely done making their moves and playoff teams that aren't really contenders like LA might not bother wasting assets on guys like Stastny so a 3rd might be the best they can get for him.

The local papers went after him for his donation to one of the freedom convoys and his opinions on the media, public health restrictions, etc. Also the guy wants to win a cup and the likelihood of that being with the Jets next season isn't good so Stastny will probably be looking at playing elsewhere, Chevy would be wise to get what he can for him.

If he wants out, then definitely, trade him for the best return possible.
As for the media… I don’t know if it affects athletes like we think it does… especially someone like Statsny, who’s been around a while. I’d assume that at some point they just learn to just ignore it and not put any stock in it.
