I get people want to keep fiala, but it seems clear Guerin isn't. So in a way isn't false fallacy to think he's all of a sudden going to change his mind on this?

Also doesn’t that kill the space in the next 2 years and you can’t improve the team?

Yop. It's just weird the number of people who can't understand or simply want to keep fiala around. At this point, seems fiala wants to get paid, Guerin doesn't want to pay him. I don't see how a gm who wants player's to be flexible in negotiations is all of a sudden going to change his mind about trading fiala. He's simply not signing fiala to long term deal or giving fiala money He's seeking

The sharks don’t need a 4th goaltender and they certainly aren’t spending a 2nd on someone who would be their most expensive goaltender. Reimer also has better numbers this year and is over a mil cheaper.

He wanted 8 mill last off season and having a career year this year. Seems like it’s set in stone he’s gone

Why would other teams want those high cap players? They can't afford them either probably.

Edmonton already has 3 NHL RHD under contract for next season, they aren't spending a 1st on a redundant addition.

OP - welcome to cap friendly. When you’re doing simple trades just to move money and roster space, throw in a comment like “could be anywhere”. If the value is terribly off, people will correct you.

Adding a note will help avoid comments like these ones. To me, it seems very obvious that you’re just using those teams as a proxy to depict the Wild side of things, but people always assume it’s about their team.

For those that i quoted, nothing personal. Just a pet peeve on this site. Like, cmon, you have to realize it’s not about your team with these.

Yea we already took a younger Goalie from you at the deadline, we need to deal Hill not add another goalie.

Would Guerin pay him 8.25, no, but with the goligoski signing, he now has 7 defensemen under contract next year. This appears to be a game of if Fiala is reasonable at 6.5-7, then a deal gets done, if not hes shipped out.

that's the thing though, if you don't take into consideration another teams needs and their cap situation you get super one sided deals that would never happen.
the "or anywhere" comment works on lower cap and quality depth pieces but when your talking prospect and high picks and high dollar players you should at least attempt to find a viable partner, otherwise I'm trading karlsson and a 1st for Mcdavid or Fox.

Or just doing some very brief research into which teams need a goalie. There are many. Off the top - Chicago, Toronto, Buffalo...

Yeah none of these are blockbusters. The Dumba trade is maybe a little more artful, but it is very reasonable to assume that both Kulikov and Talbot can be moved SOMEWHERE this offseason. Nobody cares whether or not that’s San Jose. That’s not what OP is interested in.

We don’t need people policing whether or not players like Kulikov are a fit for your favorite team.

Thanks - yeah, I don't care what teams these players end up with... they are the least considered portion of my armchairing.

Talbot would be the 4th best goalie on our roster. If we wanted Talbot he would have been in the mIddleton deal

Spurge/Brodin/Goose all have NMC and won't be moved. Merrill was just extended and BG shouldn't move him unless he wants to look like an ass. Just traded for Midds which should be a low cost extension 1.5-2 million for 2/3 years IMO. That leaves Addison who shouldn't be traded unless he's fallen out of favor with BG/DE. Kulikov is probably most likely to be traded outside of Dumba.

I wonder if BG was testing the waters with Dumba's agent for an extension this summer and Dumba is expecting a raise. On one of his shows, Russo recently said he thinks BG will expect him to take a pay cut, maybe even under 5 million per year. Might have gotten BG to circle back to Goose to resign him knowing Dumba is going to want too much?

I believe Russo thought Fiala was asking for 7-8 million for a long-term extension last offseason.
If BG can sign Fiala in the 7ish range he can be fit in the cap with Boldy getting 4ish million in a bridge and Addison getting 2ish million in a bridge with room for depth players, assuming the cap isn't flat with a million increase/year or so.

It matters. NHL GM's are on this site gathering intel for their next moves.

Actually I am Chuck Fletcher. Billy usually hangs around the Trade Machine. You can usually find Ron Francis chillin' in the Seattle Expansion Draft Simulator trying to figure out what went wrong.

then the ACGM isn’t a good place. this is a website predicated on sharing ideas and conversing with fans from other teams to get fair values and attempt to act like real GM’s
