Im not a wild fan so I don't really watch them play too much (unless they are on sportsnet or highlights lmao) but I saw a rumor of buffalo being interested in dumba next to power which was my inspiration for this post and fiala was 61 points in 66 games so that's gotta count for smth

I don’t know if that’s a good fit for Buffalo there’s better options.

If I was Minny , I would trade both Fiala and Dumba. And try to trade for Gourde and Mayfield. Much cheaper

Besides dumba having a 10 team no trade, Guerin doesn't want to keep fiala around and it's been replaced including statements he made that he's satisfied with upcoming summer plans, that fiala isn't staying. How bad negotiations went last summer basically means Guerin would rather trade fiala than offer him long term at whatever fiala is seeking

I Minnesota with Ben Myers, and especially Rossi with Joel Eriksson ek, Ryan Hartman, freddy g and Tyson Jost have no room, or really no need for gourde. As for dumba , he means more to the team and the state of Minnesota. Apparently wild gm intend to see what dumba wants this summer and resign him. Dumba also recently bought a new home here, so I think he's taking a hometown discount

Gourde is a better player than everyone you just named . He can play 1C and he’s better than Hartman by a lot

Idk about Dumba for us either
I don’t think we need a big name to play with Power,
just a defensively dependable guy

Ive actually thought about Gourde for the Wild, but i think he has some trade protection and may require an overpay to pry from Seattle?

Like what would be a reasonable package from MN for him?

Buffalo pass, Asplund is a very good player in his role and we won't trade this first, there will be a great steal prospect with this pick.

He most definitely is not. He's definitely not better than Joel Eriksson-Ek and Gourde is as much of a 1C as Hartman is. Hartman is as good as Gourde is. Full stop.

Furthermore Rossi's floor is higher than Gourde's ceiling. Gourde only wins the title of being a better player than him by virtue of being an NHL'er at this point. Rossi's played two games on a emergency basis, otherwise Guerin has kept him in the AHL to ensure his ELC will slide and that the first year of it starts next year. Meaning it's end will directly correlate with end of the heavy buyout years.

Don't believe me?

Here's a player comparison between JEE, Gourde, and Hartman.

The ONLY thing Gourde has on them is cups. But that'll happen when you play for the best team in the league the last few years. Better linemates equal better production. He doesn't have that benefit in Seattle. His lesser numbers this year bear that out.

Hartman and Gaudreau are only putting up numbers because of who they’re playing with. One explosive season doesn’t define a player. Gourde has been consistent for years as a 2nd line player

Read my edit to my post.

And then look at the 3 year outlook for all three players on the page I linked. They're close to identical.

Doesn’t have good linemates and still on a 54pt pace. That’s 2nd line production Lmaoo

I never said it wasn't, @Csick. And frankly that point is immaterial to the discussion at hand. All three's numbers are near identical, which is the point I'm trying to drive home.

Gourde is not better than them aside from your own personal opinion. The stats say they're just as good as him.

Yeah but Gaudreau was a 4th liner before this year and even waivers if I remember correctly. Hartman was a low end 3rd line guy with minimal production. Just because you play guys like Simon or Rodrigues with Crosby doesn’t mean they become 1st line guys

I never said it did. I said that playing with better linemates leads to increased production. Which is true. I never once claimed they were top line players. I also never once included Gaudreau in this discussion. Nix him from your thoughts, you'll get no argument from me on him.

Hartman's completely different, however. His averaged out PPG for the last three years is .50, compared to JEE's .54 and Gourde's .57, which squarely puts them all into middle-six player category. Additionally, Hartman and Gourde have the same goal totals during the last three years at 43, JEE leads the pack with 46. Gourde has the most assists at 62, followed by JEE at 51 and Hartman with 50.

Gourde at 105 points, JEE at 97 points, and Hartman with 93. They are all legitimate middle-six centers. Put them with skilled high-end talent and they can shine, all of them. But none are top line talent, even though they can slot there in a pinch.
