I’d think Dobson would get 5.5+

I don't know about that. I think he'd be making closer to 4.5 for either a shorter term deal, or 5.5 for a long term deal. I did something in the middle with a lower cap hit

CBJ declines easily. Peeke is not going anywhere and Texier moves only with overpayment by other team.

I thought both sides would jump on a 8 x $5,500,000 or so

I think he'd easily accept that, but I'd be worried about cap problems in the future, with the Barzal & Wahlstrom signings in the 2023 off season

Fair, I guess as of right now he is number 3 behind Pelech and Pulock, right?

Dobson's comparables are Dahlin, Mcavoy, Heiskanen etc..He's close to a 50 pt pace playing all situations on a team that struggles to score. Maybe he'll take 4.5 on a 1 or 2 year deal, but anything more than that it's over 5 mill.

I think $5.5M works fine for the Islanders and doesn't hamstring them from making their deals with Barzal & Wahlstrom. Your team here has them with $26.5M in cap space for summer 2023, so even if you add an extra $1M for Dobson at $5.5M instead of $4.5M, and hell, even pretend they don't move Josh Bailey and still have his $5M on the books, you're left with over $20M in cap space. Barzal's already making $7M, so whatever raise he gets only eats up something like $3-4M of that space, and then Wahlstrom takes up another $4Mish? Plenty of room to sign some help even!

I mean, idk about "easily" decline, but CBJ really need RD right now. We don't need a guy like Mayfield to replace Peeke, we need a guy like Mayfield in addition to Peeke. Not to mention Peeke's age/ cost-control, potential, etc. I think the value is there for CBJ, but to his point, Peeke has more value to CBJ than he likely does on the trade market.

I think the Tex trade talk is probably a bit over-blown. The kid broke his hand, then lost two close family members, so he has been granted a leave of absence, and there has been no word of any rifts or of him wanting to go back to Europe (a la Hofmann).

That being said, if you swapped out Peeke for another player (maybe Bemstrom or something), I could be pretty happy with this.

I just edited the post to say this exactly tears of joy

I'd accept that trade. Mayfield fills a need, a good mid-to-high first, and we roll the dice on Bellows. Sure.
