Against Ottawa's interests to help the Wild find cap space to keep Fiala.

Was a trade deleted or something? I don't see any Blues trades here.

I don't see Guerin moving Gaudreau. Dean loves the guy, he's also on a good contract for what he provides. I'd also be surprised if we moved Merrill since we extended him a month or so ago.

I'd guess you're at least $1M AAV short on Middleton, Fiala probably gets around $7.5M AAV if not more, and Wallstedt and Lambos should not be playing NHL minutes next year. Lines are also funky, GREEF is one of the best defensive lines in the league and there's no reason to break it up. With this group, you're looking at

Kaprizov - Hartman - Zucc
Boldy - Rossi - Fiala
Greenway - JEE - Foligno
Duhaime - Jost - Deslauriers
Middleton - Spurgeon
Brodin - Dumba
x (probably Merrill) - Goligoski

Trading the Ducks the 3 years of Merrill that your GM signed him to less than 3 months ago seems, odd...Plus, Ducks are rebuilding-no need to trade picks for depth LD's, when they've got about 8 of them that are going to be fighting for ice time next year.

A decent player at a 600K cap hit, for a 4th and 7th?

Leafs say yes.

Talbot was originally sent to the Blues.

Ottawa can't really do that

Anton Forsberg has been excellent all season and will play for sure. Who will be the other goalie though?

They need to know first what will happen with Matt Murray. Is it going to be LTIR or even LTIRed? Or can he come back healthy and share the workload with Forsberg?

Gustavsson is ready or very close but of course, need to have a NHL caliber defense which is not something the Sens have provided consistently (that's on management), ask any goalie who has played for this team in the last few years.

In the meantime, Sogaard and Mandolese get older and get more experience. Sogaard has shown he can play already but not a good idea to go too fast with goalies, don't graduate him next season.

If we knew Murray was LTIRed, I wouldn't mind Talbot for 1 season, his salary is only 3 M$ next season
